AAC Plugin for TCPMP
Requirements: TCPMP (0.66 up to 0.72RC1 confirmed working)
History: TCPMP 0.81RC1 / Flv Plugin 0.3 for TCPMP 0.81 RC1 [UPDATE 09.05.07] / AAC Plugin for TCPMP (Non-Beta versions)
Overview: For those not yet willing to use the unreleased (but already leaked) TCPMP 0.81RC1, here is the scarce AAC plugin for current official versions of TCPMP. I can personally confirm that this runs and works fine with TCPMP 0.71 and 0.72RC1.

Download Instructions: Install and... yeah!

I think its better if you just add this to the TCPMP 0.81RC1 release thread.

Well that thread has been buried a few pages down already, and besides the program has already been disclaimed by CoreCodec themselves. Still, I'll post a link on that thread to here if anyone seeks it!

I have to side with LH. While its only my opinion, I feel that the software release forum should be limited to applications. Freeware, skins, plugins and add-ons should be posted in its corresponding application release.

Otherwise there is a freeware thread thats a sticky for any misc or freeware files that dont go with an existing application release.

There is also a software forum where the topics are wide and varied.

Just my opinion of course.

I can see where you're coming from, so if you want to move this thread, no problems!

The problem is that there is no corresponding application release for the official TCPMP on here, mainly because it is freeware and already commonly known. And the TCPMP 0.81RC1 on this forum, as I mentioned earlier, has already been disclaimed by CoreCodec, and also that particular version of TCPMP does not even need this plugin anyway.

This particular plugin is freeware, but it is fairly rare as CoreCodec can no longer distribute it (due to licensing concerns), hence I thought it would be more appropriate here as it is 'rare and possibly illict freeware '. Plus it would be more readily spotted here.

So if you want to move it (or want me to move it) just give me the word, though I'm not really sure where it would be moved to!

I wont do anything until LH has a chance to review our posts. So I'll leave it up to him.

Here are some additional thoughts. TCPMP is pretty popular around this forum it seems. Also taking into consideration the numerous AVI releases in the movies section, I think we should post the player in the freeware section.

This thread would benefit if it were made into a sticky. From that point you can post plugins and updates. As many other PPCW members would appreciate I'm sure.

In order to keep the TCPMP thread clean, maybe a one line disclaimer asking people not to abuse the thread because its intended for updates, add-ons and new plugin releases.

So the question is what do you and LH think about it?

I think its better to just add the download link for this to the TCPMP 0.81RC1 release thread in the download instructions. Take a look at how I did in the actual release thread.

Well personally I don't mind where it goes, but if you want to put it on the TCPMP 0.81RC1 thread then you would have to note that this plugin is not required by that particular release, as it has already been roughly hacked in (as stated here). I uploaded this plugin for those who wish to stick to the official releases of TCPMP (ie. 0.72RC1 and lower) and still have their AAC support, so if you wish to move this onto the TCPMP 0.81RC1 thread then I ask of you to at least note this for the sake of clarity.

Conisdering Disk4Mat's comments, I agree that perhaps it would be better if all avaliable TCPMPs (the offical version and the 'fake?' version, and an explanation of their differences) and their plugins were stickied in the Software thread, since it is popular and also we do have a movie release section, in which almost all of the releases recommend TCPMP for playback. Maybe even sticky it in the movie releases section - seems pretty appropriate to me at least!

Just having my say!

Because the site is in the process of moving to a new server. Or your IP address changed.

I think this belongs in the freeware thread along with TCPMP. I'll add a dl link to LH's post in that thread. I agree it doesn't belong in the .81 thread since that already supports AAC.

I've actually already released this AAC plugin here, but now I can't find it. I think was in a request thread. oh well.

Guys please make a separate forum for freewares. To be honest, with literally 100s of freewares available on the net with dedicated websites, I really don't think we need freeware releases here.
