youtubeplay - YouTube Player - featuring full FLV v.s/n (Freeware)
Requirements: WM05-WM06, .net runtime, v2
Overview: It allows you to search for videos in a nice friendly Windows Mobile app and then plays the full FLV video (not miniscule MPEG4 versions) with its own player.

This is my YouTube search/player application. Bit like the latest CorePlayer.

It allows you to search for videos in a nice friendly Windows Mobile app and then plays the full FLV video (not miniscule MPEG4 versions) with its own player.

The app is written in a mixture of .net and C so you need the .net runtime, v2.

The video player overlay is hacked out of TCPMP and the FLV part is based on FFMPEG.

Latest version will alway be attached here.

youtubeplay last updated 16/4/08, changes:

New black look
Removed buttons, added toolbar
VGA portrait support (only testing in emulator)
Click on video for fullscreen
Backlight keepalive

Things planned: Support for all YouTube feeds, logons. Saving/loading FLV to/from file

Things not planned: Other video sites

Known issues: Sometime crashes downloading thumbnails (rarely), landscape mode not right

Everybody should note that this application will eat bandwidth, no consideration has been made for data consumed, so Wifi/ActiveSync or unlimited 3g only, be prepared for a big data bill otherwise. Won't work well on GPRS anyway as FLV vids are quite sizeable.

A .CAB file a day, for mobile users on the way, keeps installation problems away...

< .CAB file link(s) > added to opening post. (Unless specified all .CAB files are Rapidshare links)

Why should one install a CAB-file?

- direct download/install to the device, without polluting desktop PC by useless installed files
- CAB files are trusted. no viruses, no trojans
- Look HERE to find out how to install a .CAB file

Kargent is this better than TCPMP with FlashVideoBundle to play YouTube videos?

I was looking for something like this for a while, this tool is absolutely amazing. It lets you search for and watch youtube videos from one application, meaning you dont have to use the IE plugin & TCPMP for accessing youtube. You search, it displays videos with their thumbnails five at a time, and also lists the description and rating. The iphone has something like this. 10/10, 50 WRZ$ donated.

Core (1.2.3) also does this in a nice way.

Yea, like Kareem said CorePlayer does the something that Lifehacker described. I don' think i'd be downloading this app after lifehacker describes it, lol. Plus I like using TCPMP + FlashVideoBundle, it displays more videos and exact view as if you were on the computer browsing YouTube.

Interesting, I didn't know this. Will have to try the newer version of CorePlayer. I've been using the TCPMP plugin for IE which I found very annoying since it forced me to use IE, rather than one of the better browsers available for PPC.

Yea but Lifehacker, why not get the REAL YouTube experience and get to see all the results of a video search rather than a limited number. And at times it doesn't show the video you are looking for in CorePlayer because it only brings up a limited amount of search results.

Hi,

This is a great app.

First, it can search the + symbol meaning it has better search abilities than Corplayer that gives you one page and no ability for more.

Second, you view in full flv instead of what Coreplayer uses.

Third, not needing two apps open, as with PE and TCPMP using the flv plugin has got to be better for viewing.

The only thing I am not fond is the UI which, I hope will be tweaked and given a more pleasing look, especially on my VGA screen.

Would love to see this as a plugin for TCPMP but no way of knowing if it is possible.
