Aviasoft Nature Explorer v1.7.0
Requirements: Android 1.6 and above with 160mb free SD Card space.
Overview: Nature Explorer for Android has 11 nature topics to view. Each item has an illustration, photograph and text description. Birds also have distribution maps and optional bird songs. The database has an Editor to allow easy editing and adding of records or topic lists. Users of older versions (for Windows/PPC) can use the converters to change their text files for Android use. V1.5 has improved tab usage and a wider screen display support.

This release changes the program only. (If you have already downloaded a previous verison of Android Nature Explorer you will only need to download the program apk.)

Improvements include the display tabs and the hard back button usage. Also improvements in various screen layouts.

New APK v1.5.2

Improved: Added screens at 480x800 at 160, and improvements in hvga and qvga.

Improved: Bird song functionality.

Fixed: hard BACK button functionality.

Improved: TAB display and text display.

why oh why is this data file taking sooo long to transfer from pc to phone? its saying 3 1/2 hours to transfer 150mb??? nothing else transfers this slow!, its not the pc or phone as i have stopped it and transferred other, bigge,r files to check. its just this avisoft data file!

You are not the first person to have this problem with copying the data to Android devices. We found the solution was to find a different way to transfer the folder. One way was to remove the micro SD card and put it into the pc directly.

I link my device to the pc with the usb cable and choose usb storage mode. Then simply drag-drop Aviasoft folder. It takes about 2 minutes to copy all the files. No problems at all.

NEW VERSION 1.5.6 OUT

I have added a sort A-Z option in the main menu and you can now order the topics in the program in any way you wish.

Also you can now record media of nature for later viewing.

The AVIASOFT database is being improved with bugs in data fixed and more bird songs added.

I am shortly releasing a Desktop PC version of the program with a data editor.

Love the possibility to capture sounds in Nature.
Extended search deserves a bettere understanding of its potentialilties, especially with the localization of common names.

installed but finding many problems: before reporting I want understand if problems are coming out from my stupid tablet...

Referring to search, what I meant was the fact that "similar sounds" and "letters" may behave differently when used for non English names, but I'm still far away from testing this...

The problems were down to my error. I forgot to include a new topics text file in the update folder.

So sorry everyone.

I have no idea how the Chapman SoundX routine will work for non-English words either. It will be interesting to find out.

DESKTOP VERSION WITH DATABASE EDITOR OUT

I have posted the Windows Desktop version of Nature Explorer.

This is useful to Android users as it uses the Android data folder and has a database editor.

The database editor allows you to add, modify or delete items. and group lists.

You can easily add your own photos of an item or change the description text.

Version 1.8 released here...

This version has Bird plumage detail images added and improvents made to the program generally.

Includes a new user guide.

For previous users only the program needs downloading as it has an Aviasoft data update within it. :)
