Style or CSS (Cascading Style Sheets, Cascading Style Sheets) is a set of formatting options that is applied to elements of a document to change their appearance. Color, size, position and other parameters are stored in a specific place and are easily “screwed” to any element. Styles are a convenient, practical and effective tool for laying out web pages and styling text, tables, links, images, etc. When using styles, we get “clean” HTML code that only defines the structure of the document and a set of elements, and the design of the web page and the elements themselves are assigned to CSS.
Using styles, you can also define designs for different output devices: a printer, a monitor, a smartphone, a tablet, etc. For example, display the page in one design on a monitor screen, and in another when printing it. This feature also allows you to hide or show some elements of the document when displayed on different devices. CSS takes into account the orientation of the device (portrait or landscape), the size and other parameters of the screen and instantly switches the appearance of the web page depending on which device and how we view the site.
Styles, as a rule, are stored in one or several special files, the link to which is indicated in all web pages of the site. Thanks to this, it is convenient to edit the style in one place, while the design of the elements automatically changes on all pages that are associated with the specified file. Thus, it is enough to edit one style file and the design of the associated web pages will immediately change.
