I just tested the 'No AOSP' variety and, yes, it does work fine. Successfully identified consecutively several plants.
I've previously said the mod is problematic, but it was actually my mistake. all good.

No, I was not that wrong after all.
after 6 successful snaps recognition has started to permanently fail. Just like people have reported for the previous modded version (v3.26).
clearing cache doesn't help, nor clearing all app data. In the latter case the app freezes on launch screen with a "empty key" message.
the only way I have managed to make it work again is to uninstall > reinstall. After re-installing it is normally functional again, who knows for how long (p.s. well, it worked 1 times only. then back to its non-functional state).
so yes, the mod is not perfected.

You are absolutly right.....this app has NOT been working for ages now....it let you find one plant and then the next will just say FAILED to identify plant. For me it looks like a internet problem because on the mainpage it doesnt even load the pictures when this problem appear. There is NO problems with permissions, there I already checked.
VERY SAD because it has been an excellent app.
(I am using Android 11 and 12)

PS! Regarding alternative I found that PLANTA has been EXCELLENT.

I have been using this app for a few years. In my old oneplus it was perfect. Now in my new oppo I enter, everything is correct, I exit and when I go back in it says "empty key" I have tried AOSP and no AOSP

The same problem. I guess if it works on some devices. On Oneplus with android 11 it works. On Oppo with android 12 it doesn't work. It's weird for me because these two brands use almost the same software but there must be something preventing it. I have tried with account through email and account through google
