Anyone have a fix for this or should I wait for a new release?

Doesn't matter what version you use. These are "gold crown" episodes that are restricted server-side for premium users. Look at the bottom of the episode thumbnail and you'll notice a gold crown. Nothing you can do but wait for them to be released to the normal public...

Ah, that would make sense. Sorry, I'm not familiar with crunchyroll like that. I knew premium had perks in quality but that was it. Thank you for the clarification.

Go back to post #48 and install the modified Apk. It should work after that.

Is it only subbed in English? Or are there different languages to choose?

I don't know how many shows have multilingual subs, but the subs generally follow the language selected in settings. But this changes all the language settings in the app, not just subs. For instance, if I change the settings language to German, all the text in the app menus is in German, and when I watch Gate, the subs are in German. You aren't able to change from one language to another within a playing video.

Hifi posted a mod for Stabiron's release back in response 48 that fixed a forced update problem with this old 2.x release that supposedly supports Android 4.1. Did you try it? It still worked as recently as 6 months ago.

anyone else get a google play alert saying the crunchyroll apk was harmful?

I'm not running this anymore, but it is common that when signatures are edited, Play Store reports it is a harmful ap. Probably what you are seeing here.
