For some reason, Swype doesn't work on a Desire with a Desire HD ROM. Not had the chance to test it on a Desire, but it definately doesn't activate for Desire HD ROMs.

any idea if this works on the Droid Incredible? I have a samsung moment and swype works flawlessly, but im getting my gf a phone for her bday and her requirements are that it have either a slideout qwerty or swype, and we're looking @ the droid incredible, so yeah...

Well...I tried this..works fine the Portuguese/English ..but still have the same problem with choosing the caracters (ã, é, ó, ç) when pop up the board ... it is in very light blue and text in white. Very hard to see what word is there.

Any chance of a PT/EN with this pop up board in black?

Looking at inside the apk file... I discover that the png files like wcw_right_pt_VGA, wcw_left_ls_VGA and others are this in light blue.

Tell me what's your phone model & android build and describe the whole procedure you're doing for installing swype and for the activation of it, together with part when force closes occurs. Maybe it'll help for understanding what's going on.

X10 android 1.6 it installs fine but when i press any were that makes the keyboard pop up
i cant begin to type before it closes

Ok, for the beginning: after installation and checking box under settings/Language & keyboard/Swype, were you able to go into Swype settings (just above checked Swype) without force exiting? If yes (and that would mean installation was successful), do you have any other keyboard besides swype in your mobile device? If the answer is yes, then how do you change that probably build native keyboard to swype? I mean, is it by long holding a place for text input and then selecting "swype" under Input method? Maybe all those questions are not necessary, but I try to figure out where's the catch.

i can go into settings if i do it before activating swype as keboard ,after it activated i keep pop up at it closes even if i do nothing
only keyboard is android stock

to change to swype i long press the bottom left key on the stock keyboard

For those that the new v2.4.44 does not work/don't want it and know how to edit an apk, like me: you can copy the new better looking keyboard images from 2.4 to 1.61.

just did it and the keyboard looks very nice. The word choose popup does not because it has a whitish background and the text is also white. So don't copy the wcw_*.png files.

so if i wanna type a new word, and must input a special char, i dont see anything in the popup.

i tried to repair that minor mistake myself, but the .apk wont work anymore after i touched it - also, its not signed anymore. may i ask you to rebuild the ger+eng swype?
