Voice command, software keyboards, and other input applications

So you're all telling me - you would rather download all your apps???
e.g. 15 - 20 Apps x $1.00 - $25.00
It isn't that expensive! $100 perhaps in total... You earn that in less than a day - just a couple hours!

I've got no problem with downloading Apps to try and determine if they're any good. But when an app is 101% (features, stability, language, GUI) then it's worth buying it as you get all the updates AND the support!

I find it odd how "tight" people are. $1 is nothing! $5 is nothing! Most people don't even contribute on the forums where they get the software from!

If it doesn't work, then don't complain or whine about it! Go buy it or donate to Mobilism!

Maybe you're fortunate, and have a good job. But not everyone in the world is that lucky. In fact, you're in a very strict group - less than 10% people in the world make that kind of money.

I have to work hard to earn my money, and it is not that much. I can't get $100 in a couple hours. I live in a poor third world country. My current job pays about $1000 a month so I have to work ~3 days to get $100. And I'm fortunate and have a good job -- ALL my friends make less money than I do. The only reason I have an Android smartphone is because my company provides it to me.

Well i've no problem downloading Apps, but if you find something really useful, then you may aswell buy it - support developer, and support further updates and future development.

All the people crying about problems before with v4.00 cracked, there were no problems with Paid version from Market.....

I don't know man, the 4.0.1 release is just borked, including people who have paid for it, the keyboard just won't show. That's why I haven't bought it, while I bought Swiftkey because it benefits me so much.

I'll try going back to 4.0 because it was workig perfectly.

you are pretty simple minded - you must be an american.

unlike for US citizens in most parts of the rest of the world, its rather uncommon to have a credit card. yet google checkout ONLY offer credit card payment.

simple like that: i cannot buy anything in the market (and i would LOVE to buy some things), because google checkout is stupid. so i am forced to used warez. i got at least 15 apps on my mind i would buy at once if google let me...

stupid simple minded americans...

While I don't find it uncommon to have a credit card (I'm in South America), earning USD 100 'in a couple hours' is trippy even by US stardands, that guy is high, or maybe rich and oblivious.

On a topic-related note, I'm hating Slideit since 4.0, gone back to Swype. It just doesn't work in a lot of apps including WhatsApp which I use a lot.

Sorry the off-topic, but you're saying you're mal-paid and you gain 1000 bucks a month?!?!

DAMN, some people are really dumb and don't deserve what they get. thank the american fascist pigs for the 2008 crisis and the false-flag 911 illuminati operation. Now we're stuck in this stupid world with 6 billion of idiots not knowing shit about the world they live on.

Bunch of retards.

sorry about the *rant*. Now go and LEARN YOURSELFS ABOUT WORLD POLITIKS. geeez

Besides off topic, you're being rude and trolling the wrong person. He said he earns 1k a month and all his friends earn less and he is fortunate for that, learn to read I stead of quoting him out of context. He'll he even said he has an Android phone just because his employers gave him one. There's actually no whining in his post, in fact you are whining and your country's minimum wage is almost double of Brazil - which btw doesn't have the admired health system you do (we actually use your country as one of the examples of a good public health system) - and did you know we have the most expensive iPhone4 in the world due to taxes? That goes for a lot of other stuff too.

If you wanna troll do it with the guy who wrote that anyone can earn 100 bucks in a couple hours, not the one saying he's fortunate for earning 1k/month.

And trying to go back on topic again... The same complaints I see about slideit are in the Market too, and happens to me both in 4.0 and 4.0.1 - that's why I didn't buy it. Is anybody having any luck with the keyboard showing up? I don't know if it's a general bug or maybe the apps I use the most like GO SMS and Whatsapp. And I don't like Swype very much since my phone came with it and I don't wanna do the hacks to install the beta.

Just because I have determination and an open mind I'm a "troll"? And now I live in the USA??? I sound like an American??? Sounds like you need a few lessons in manners. Don't put people down because of their race. I know lots of nice americans. I don't live there - no where near there! (Fly East!)

lol you're sooo off topic it's not funny.

Just because of 911 and all that, it's the president that sends people to war. Not the people. The people have NO say in it at all! America only goes to war for one thing! - OIL! Average person in American is below the poverty line! I earn $##/hour... so? I work over 85 hours a week! I work hard! Guess what? Rent here is $##/week! Cheap or Expensive?
Now i'm getting off topic!

As I said before, if the app is good, or you can't get it to work, then BUY IT! Support the developer and pay for what you use! If you don't, then you are a theif!

[size=105]Why not send an email to the developer and say "I live in a country without Credit Cards, I earn $1000 per month, and I really like your app. I cannot pay via Paypal, would you allow me to pay via an alternate method?"??? It's a bloody good App! *cough* Better than Swype! *cough*

Bingo!

Also, it is not that hard to open a Paypal account and earn US $$$ (or Google Checkout account).
At the end of the day, you can cry about something, or pick yourself up, and do something about it - be the bigger man! Go and make some money, do some work! Get paid in USD, and lose the deniro or peso or whatever it is over there...

If you need some work, and want to earn USD $, then tell me your skills, what you can do, what you've done, and I can get you doing something! I am the first person to help when someone is in need... So don't slap the hand that feeds you!

... if that made any sense at all.......

What caused all the commotion is not you nationality or whatnot, but the fact you implied it's easy to earn USD 100 in a 'couple hours' - hell if I tell that to my US friends they'll laugh, I know plenty that don't make this kind of money in a day. It may be easy for you, it is possible for me, but it's not an average, not in Brazil, not in Europe, not in the USA.

But enough off topic for me, as I said the reason I didn't buy Slideit is that it simply doesn't work for me and I'm afraid to invest in something that may not work at all, since there are TONS of comments from people who bought it saying the same thing, especially about version 4.0.1, but since 4.0 it's been crappy here. Maybe it depends on the device or something else, there are some positive reviews of the new versions on the market so who knows. Even the free test version from the market isn't working for me, while Swype, Swiftkey and Perfect Keyboard work just fine.

Holy shit. Who cares if this dude is buying or stealing all his apps. The average paying job in america is 35-40k a year. So in theory it should take 5+ hours to make 100 dollars. If you really boil things down in this world and this life, what is free and what should be worth anything? Money is given value by a man or institute. Money in actuality has no value. Nothing does. So whether a developer chooses to make something... he should be thankful for receiving money. There are far more important things that I need to pay for: food, clothing, shelter, electricity etc. Its great and all that this app copies swype (and by the way to my question, is this even better than swype?) which is free. Maybe it wont be free forever but there are tons of alternatives that are just like swype and slideit, that are free. So why should this be more money than free?

I honestly don't give a shit. I love the buy it if you like it but as you get old you tend to deviate from this a bit. But still, if you like the product and want to support the developer? Great. If you steal and it dont ever want to, great. Life goes on.

To reiterate my true question. Is this better than swype? and give me reasons why. I think swype is cool but at the same time i hate having to fix words that it does not ever predict. Same goes for thumbpal or whatever that other copycat keyboard is.

I like it better than Swype. But I hear the Swype beta is better, since my phone came with Swype and I have the old one I get the annoying pop up.

Slideit is like Swype but with a list of words on top (like most keyboards), every time so you can correct with one tap, that's what makes it better for me, because Swype predicts words more accurately, but Slideit is way easier to correct, although if you can try the new Swype Beta because afaik it's using a similar system. But I haven't installed it because it'd require some renaming root files on my device since the now 'old' swipe came preinstalled.

Without wanting to get involved in all the politics on this thread, I am using v4.0 (from here!!) and it is working perfectly on (my) HTC Desire Z in all the apps it is required for. No special installations, phone not rooted, installed straight over v3.?.

Mmm. I used the beta on my phone it entails everything you mentioned. I love the idea but i hate fixing the small nuances. Minor stuff but it pisses me off. 2 thumbs for me.

Thanks.

See you,
