I installed this, but it doesn't work for me. I swipe a word as indicated but nothing happens. Uninstalled!
I prefer AI Keyboard and even Better 8 Keyboard over Swype.

Great and regards from me and Portugal :-)

Anyway... I can't instal on my SGS2 because I have this message: Not installed:-(
I try with root explorer remove (first backup :-) ) the libswippe.so, restart... and when reboot I have an Input error and a FC but when Install this package...the same message 'not installed'.
My SGS2 is rooted and with the last official ROM.
So... unhappy :-(

Does anybody know if it would be possible to modify the Croatian dictionary so that it doesn't include special characters of the croatian alphabet (i.e. č, ć, ž, š, đ)?
Somehow simply replace every:
č and ć with c
š with s
and ž with z?

That would be awesome (especially if both dictionaries could be added. The problem is that an SMS message with those characters can contain a maximum of 70 letters and that is significantly less than with regular characters (160 letters)

p.s. Thank you for this app. Work great on my desire and it is awesome, it's just that it doesn't really help me because of the limitation to message length :(
For emails though it is great :)

I have heard of this problem with other languages too, such as German. Is this a swype problem or is this an Android problem (not being able to handle the special chars). Maybe the SMS application is what needs to be fixed?

Edit: have you tried Go SMS Pro? I think there are options in there for special chars. and it is free.

If you use ANY character rather than the characters shown in the Standard GSM Characters set, the mobile phone will have to use 16 bit encoding (instead of only 7 bit). This is the problem. There are some SMS applications that allow you to turn off the extended character set, converting those extended characters into their equivalent standard characters before sending the SMS.

Handcent seems to have a fix for this.

This is NOT a swype problem. This is an Android bug.

It's not a swype problem or an android bug. It's the normal operation of every part of the system. The same is true if you use some dumb phone and type in ć, you'll switch to 16bit encoding and bang, you can enter only 70 letters.

That is the reason I asked if someone who has access to the dictionary can simply replace all this chars because thats the way us croatians type our SMSes. Without the special chars.

You should not have to change the dictionary in Swype because there are SMS programs that automatically replace the special characters with regular 7bit ones. Handcent does this.. maybe Go SMS Pro does it too.

But not for Croatian? Or I simply haven't found that option.. Do you mean something different from Locale support? Could you guide me to that option if there is one?

Handcent has a way to turn off the encoding for special characters, but it seems limited to only a few languages. Online it says it can but I have a feeling that Croatian is not supported yet. Hmm I bet the Go SMS team would add a feature like this. They accept requests and update every week.
