Hi,
In Russian, the dash "–" is used with spaces, and the hyphen "-" without spaces. If you use a dash (it is now in fashion on the English layout of the USA), then the spaces will be on both sides. But I can return how it is implemented in the original swiftkey. Are you using a beta or a swiftkey release?

I am using stable one. It doesn't matter whether it's "_" or a "-", both acts the same way.

If you type something then a "space" and then any of these characters without brackets (. _ - , ; , I may have missed one or two, the result would be that that space would be gone and the character is attached to previous text. There must be a way to disable that through settings. SwiftKey messed up here.

It works. Setting a space after a word and then typing , - _ etc there is only one space after , - _ ...

I think it's fine. When I thought more about it, it seemed that the current method is the right way for both of them grammatically so it's perfect as it is.
