I know it sucks when it crashes but
Check the post minimum requirements are Android Marshmallow 6.0
Why don't u try isntalling a custom rom it will make your phone more fluid and of course will add more functionality but only do it if you know about flashing roms

Which my phone hits that range of Soc...
No worries though... In a couple of months I'll be the proud new owner of a Galaxy S10+ that's supposed to turn into a Ray Gun, have X-Ray Vision, and Make a mean Espresso... LOL

I can try but it is very hard because the firmware of at that time doesn't have any Camera2api and Soc also lacking in power for HDR+
