Firefox 4 Beta 2 for Android (freeware)
Requirements: Android 2.0 and above devices
Overview: Today Mozilla announced the new Firefox 4 Beta for mobile devices which is now available to download for Android. Based on our site analytics, Google’s Chrome browser is the top choice for our readers, but Firefox comes in at a close 2nd so I’m sure many will want to check this out.

The latest Firefox 4 Beta for mobile includes a 60% install size reduction on Android (from around 43 MB to 17 MB), reduces memory usage, and improves text rendering. Mozilla has also made quite a few UI improvements, which has undergone an overhaul to include an Android-inspired theme.

This update of Firefox 4 Beta for mobile is smaller, sleeker and faster with:
  • a 60% smaller install size
  • a new theme with a fresh look and new features for tabbed browsing and link sharing
  • optimizations that make it around 25% faster on the SunSpider Javascript benchmark than the stock browser on Android 2.2

Works great. I like that they are cutting down on the size, and the speed is definitely getting better. Once they get flash going, I'll probably switch over. Until then, I'm sticking with Dolphin HD on my EVO.

Agree this is worst web browser yet, so this beta better be far from final release. Can't believe there is no text reflow!

Current favourite is Skyfire.

Can't wait to see what Opera has to offer. I like WM version of Opera, so hopefully the Android version will be just as good if not better. :)

I thought that Opera is already available on Android. Check the market it is there and it is quite good ;-)

I'm with everyone on how bad this is ATM. After running this for a minute it brings my phone to a crawl. I thought maybe it was because of running off sd card but I had the same issue when moved back to phone. I love firefox on the pc and I hope they get this worked out. Gonna have to check out skyfire for the droid. I used it when I was running WM.

Crack?? It's freeware. I like it better than Opera. Supposedly Opera is releasing Opera Mobile soon to make up for their current POS browser that doesn't even have pinch zoom. I personally like Dolphin 4 over both firefox and the default browser.

The one currently available in Market is Opera Mini which does not support flash and has no pinch zoom feature. I am referring to Opera Mobile which will be available sometime this month. :)
