Useless if you live outside the US, not even with a proxy in the US.

yes - can't buy any apps (outside US), and also if you get the content it doesn't work either because you launch the app and it says you don't own the content.

I have a feeling the angry birds that are $0.59 are ad-free versions of the ones that are free on the android market.

also angry birds Rio is the new one so is free at the moment, but will probably be a $0.59 ad-free one if/when we can download the darn thing
