Yes :
1/Connect you phone to wifi or 3g/4g.
2/connect your phone to your PC with USB Then use USB tethering option to your PC
(it will create a New network on your PC and you phone is nos thé modem/router)
3/launch "vpn hotspot" app (must be rooted)
4/launch expressvpn.

could you give me advice on how to fix "still trying to create account" (trial mode)
which doesn't complete.

i've tried using another vpn to activate the trial...didn't work
airplane mode on/off..........didn't work

any advice appreicated.

Yes, it was working at least for me.
My timeline of events.

Activated trial on LOS 16 Pie and updated to LOS 17 Android 10 on April 15.
it worked fine since then probably because trial is already activated already on pie but app itself was working fine on Android 10.
May be trial is over today and app started crashing infinetly. Clearing data, resnstalling or hiding with magisk. Nothing helps
I can submit the crash log if you insist but I need to learn how to do it. I can if you need it.

Looks like something changed server side because many people are facing this since yesterday.
