One of very few applications that is progressively getting worse and worse with every update. NO thanks I'll stay with 6.5 so I can listen to the recordings in a thrid party mp3 player and not in TUNEin which is a HORRIBLE player.
Wish there was some competition in this space... but there is NONE

Well at least 6.5 version doesnt try to hide the recordings in secure area of the phone and split it up to a billion goddam pieces.
So sick of that company.
Ok now that you have that version (btw upto 7.2 is still good, all after are progressively worse and worse)
Here is what you do:
1. This version will only record 30mins on play paused and recording (stupid Tunein). But you can record continuously with the volume down... but that means you cant listen to anything else on your phone since volume controls all media, phone calls are fine.
2. Locate tunein folder on sdcard and move the files to a different folder and rename them with the extension .mp3 (if thats the format you are recording, I don't use any other so can't answer how they work) This step is not mandatory but I remember tunein actually deleting my mp3 files in its folder thats why I move them now.
3. Download and install this : - MP3Tag editor - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.funtrigger.mp3tag
4. Open the previously saved mp3 file in the MP3tag editor on your android
5. Type any gibberish into the tile field (doesn't matter as long as there is atleast a character)
6. Press Save and wait... when the screen comes back just press cancel and you are done.
7. Voila you got a playable mp3 file
8. I use this player to play them back Smart AudioBook Player -- viewtopic.php?f=429&t=593276&hilit=audiobook
9. Screw Tunein managment for destroying potentially great app - optional step
Enjoy

VerminX:
Interesting stuff. I've always loved this app, but I've only use it as a sort of 'Pandora'-style app in order to discover lots of new music. I've been wanting to try an updated version (am currently using 7.5), if only to take advantage of some of the interface changes. I have never used it to record any shows/songs and don't have a need to. Is that all that's "wrong" with the new iterations of the app (i.e., the recording file splitting bullshit, etc.)?

I don't know what they improved in the following versions... Scheduled recording was always busted for me, and forget about setting the alarm clock or it will come on and start beeping whenever it feels like.
The playback controls got smaller with every goddam version, try skipping 5minutes on a 30 mins recording and you'll be all over the place
All this with progressively bloated size player that likes to stay in the memory all the time even with no scheduling or alarms set
As far as Talk Radio:
The only way to record past the 30mins on Tunein is to have your station playing and recording, you either listen to it at the same time or silence the media volume... but no listening to other players while tunein is recording or you'll hear both at the same time
I like to listen to Tom Leykis Talk show for men. Love Leykis 101, much truth to how you should treat women.
After 3 hours of searching and trying different radio recorders this is the best I could find:
Audials: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audials&hl=en
It offers :
1) Recording in the background... so you can listen to other media in the mean time - The most importand feature to me.
2) Sleep Timer only 120 mins
3) If you want to listen to its recordings in other players you need to change the .aud to .mp3 or whatever you recorded in
4) Does have a Alarm Clock but no auto record in background
5) No Scheduling
If someone finds better solution plz post
I need these features :
1) Record in the background so you can use your other media player at the same time
2) Scheduling recording IN THE BACKGROUND, not like a alarm clock where the station comes on blasting
3) NO Mickey Mouse formats, hiding the recordings, splitting to billion pieces, and other bs
I will consider paying for the right software.
Thx
