What's the functional difference between the root and non root versions? As in I have a rooted phone so would installing the non root version be of any disadvantage to me?

Not for certain, but maybe it could be because the signature verification doesn't check out, where as if you were to have a device which has root/Xposed, you could remedy get around that check. I haven't looked into this yet myself, so I could be wrong... It's just a guess...

there's no functions different, non-root version will have package id com.android.google.ogyoutube so it won't refuse to install on non-root device which commonly come with youtube app pre-Insta as system app.

root version have package id com.android.google.youtube, that's why you need to uninstall the original youtube app, and if it's pre-installed as system app, then only root users can do it.

Am a non-rooted user. I am confused between so many variants. Can someone please break it down for me?
1. module Xposed blocking advertising
2. Xposed module blocking the update request through Google Play (Update OGYoutube it does not block)
Also, do I have to install that other app before installing OGyoutube?
