Forgive my ignorance, but what are the benefits of this over the standard YouTube app?

Is it simply ad-free, or does it also also playback while screen is off?

Could this be installed with a different package name to not require root?

Hm, can anyone help out? Thought I followed the instructions to a T, but when I created the YouTube folder within /system/app/ incl. the 755 permissions and put the apk in there you still have to install it from there, right? Or JUST rebooting? I did both, rebooting only then tried to install apk, but both approaches failed. Where am I wrong?

Any hints on this come greatly appreciated!

Hey,
You just put the app in there. Rename the app to "YouTube.apk" (without the quotes) if you haven't already. Reboot.

Thanks for your help. I renamed the app accordingly and rebooted. This might sound SO ridoooncolous now, but now having it renamed and rebooted my device ... how do I start it? (on android 6.0.1)

When u put the app in system/app ad mean "installed". The app should br showed in app drawer.

Chk is there any "youtube" related in data/app & data/data, and
Try clear the cache / dalvik b4 "installed"

Thanks for that - in the meantime I figured out!.. although I'm running the app on my TV box (H96 Pro+) which has a AArch64 Processor the arm64 version didn't do the trick (or show up!) but the 'simple' arm one finally did, as to why Idk, but it works now. Thanks everyone for your help!
