I've been playing it myself for half a day without any ads, so it seems fine. The change was very small too, should not affect anything else at all. I took the version posted here earlier, the one without visual ads but still with audio ads. I tried to look how the old 1.3 was hacked and do the same for 1.5, but it turned to be impossible because they've changed the advertisement logic quite a bit. So I started looking a little deeper. Eventually found just the right spot to comment out only one (!) line of code to completely bypass the audio ads loading!

I appreciate the effort AsX! Please don't take offense at this next comment (never can be to careful).

Can someone who knows how to check just verify that this is legit (non-shady). You know, b/c of the "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" mentality.

lowfive, actually I myself would very much like that the guy(s) who regularly release Pandora (with visual ads removed) take the file, decompile it, look what I did (just one line!), and next time do similar to all new versions, if possible. Makes sense that they do that, they mess with the code anyway. It is actually strange that they could not find a way to disable audio ads though. I think there are more ways, I found one but it looks like there should be some other places possible to patch.

I keep trying to download this, but every time I unzip it and try to install, it says there is an issue parsing the package. Can anyone tell me the trick to making this work? Ive had this issue on a few apk files in the past and would love to know.

Thanks! :D

Are you downloading on your phone? Try downloading it to your computer first, sometimes these file hosting sites don't work the best on phones.

This works great running in Bluestacks App Player on desktop. Pandora got rid of the 40 hour limit recently and with no audio ads its perfect.

I have tried it both ways. Usually when I download on the computer, and extract the apk, I just email it to myself and install it that way. Ive also tried downloading to my phone and unzipping with both ES and File Expert - same results...

EDIT: paranoid edit deleted :)

Assuming you completely removed any previous version of pandora, the parsing package usually manifests as a result of a corrupted file. Downloading onto a desktop/laptop, extracting the apk, moving it to your sdcard and installing via one of the file explorer apps should alleviate that problem, but it sounds like you've tried that.

First, I'd recommend you try a different browser. If you have some crazy addon(s) in your current browser like a very strict add/java/flash/download blocker that might screw up the download somehow even though it appears to download the file correctly.

Also, I'm not sure what you're using to unpack the apk, but I'd suggest just using the free version of winrar which you can download directly from the winrar site. It will eventually start asking you if you want to buy the full version when the program starts but all you do is click "no" and you're still good to go.

If you've tried all of that then perhaps it's your phone/version of android that's the problem. I'm not sure if Pandora is compatible with all version. What phone/version are you on?

lowfive, you are worrying too much :) Yes the code is modified, I had to comment out (it essentially means remove :) ) a line of smali assembler code (actually I think I removed two next ones that were just logging an error that now would never happen, but it was not really necessary), so of course the APK size would change. Commenting out source lines actually completely removes the code from the compiled file. Plus the package was decompiled and recompiled with apktools, then zipaligned and resigned. You can't expect the size to be the same after that.

As for the package parsing error, that most probably happens because the APK file got corrupted at some stage. Either bad download, or moving to the phone via e-mail. I'd clear browser cache, redownload to PC, and install directly with ADB.

Thanks for the suggestion, guys - I will try them out. I was using Chrome to download and Alzip to unzip them, so maybe trying a different combo will help. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II, running 2.3.4, so I doubt its a compatibility issue.

It's one of the things I do best! Lol

Thanks for further explaining, that makes more sense now.

Alissa one other thing you might want to try is just hooking your phone to your computer via USB cable, putting it in mass storage mode (or whatever mounting the sdcard to your computer is called by Samsungs) and then copy the file to your sdcard.

If you absolutely have to go wireless I'd def recommend using dropbox or a similar service to upload and subsequently download your file. Email is rarely a good choice for file transfer unfortunately.

I've run this for several hours in Bluestacks and on my phone testing every function. I haven't had any issues, the stations play without ads and there are no stalls or gaps where ads should be. This one is definitely a keeper.

Anyone else notice the original version released in this thread was sporting the filename "pd151t.apk"? This is supposed to be a thread for version 1.5.13....... AsX did you use that file to make yours or did you pull a copy off of android market and crack from scratch?
