Today we announce XBMC for Android. Not a remote, not a thin client; the real deal. No root or jailbreak required. XBMC can be launched as an application on your set-top-box, tablet, phone, or wherever else Android may be found.

If you don't understand just what this is, think of having Windows Media Center running on your Android device, fully customizable, open-source, and with full Python plug-in support. Now think of it on Google TV boxes, Android-on-a-stick style devices, or the Nexus Q. Music, video, internet apps like Pandora, all running on Android device. XMBC does all this, and more. Have a look at Wikipedia if you're not familiar with the media center concept.

I managed to get a build of XBMC working on Tegra2's including the A500.This only works for SD content currently and hardware decoder support will be necessary to get 720p and 1080p support.

Please note the Tegra2 is an unsupported platform currently.

NOTE:
Xbmc for android will be released officially with XBMC 12 "Frodo", around November 2012.
All builds now and later available are some WIP alpha versions with no support just for people information.

Not bad, some bugs here and there, but it's working! Definitely a good port, to improve but a good port!
The worst bug is that if you skip too many audio tracks, the playback becomes very bad!

Seems to be working fine on my Tegra3 Asus TF300T

glad somebody got it working if the developers cant be bothered with it
though I will stick to mx player until this matures more

Working great on my LG Optimus 2X running stock 2.1. Navi-X and Icefilms add-ons installed without any problems. Im happily watching movies via the hdmi output from my phone on my tv.

Appreciate the efforts of kemonine96 for getting this to work on an "unsupported" Tegra 2 device.
