Tried minutes ago from Hifi and works perfect, no more crash. The cherry on the cake would be to delete completely the luminati prompt like on TvMob, etc.. but already so it's pratically perfect

At some point, I will look for it but seems to be hidden from me lol but it is 100% just a prompt on the first run.
It has no proxy or Luminati running so any option can be chosen. I didn't want to risk breaking it for a second time

yes if in any doubt check DrWeb this will flag any proxy service instantly
in fact virus total flags with DrWeb on the original app and others similar that use the proxy network and this is because of the Luminati

I`m getting a popup when I try to install.

It says Blocked by Play protect

This app is fake and tries to steal your data.

I`m thinking it`s just Play protect being over cautious because it`s not on the playstore.

But is this happening for anyone else?

Just got to commend you Mate on all your previous work...Sterling! work man.
I would just like to ask a question or two Please and as it`s not specifically pertaining to this topic release my apologies ...But I don`t know how to ask otherwise.
I see you did a flurry of UK Catchup TV mods and was wondering if you could possibly do any AD Free catch-up ATV Versions ?
I would also like to know if you where able to install STV player and UKTV PLAYER to your shield TV ?
I tried with UKTV Player but it 1st opens for a few seconds on the shield ,then it close`s ,Any chance you could look at that? also the STV player installs fine on the shield ..But when you try to register the code prompt onscreen, The image is Huge and no matter what you do. You can`t adjust the screen to show the last few digits of the verification code...it`s totally obscured from view as the image screen is massively zoomed...is there a way to downsize the screen image size on that app ? I think it may require an adjustment mod in the apps directory. Where ever this resides.

UKTV Player for an OS running Android TV is from Amazon. It's about 1 MB in size as it's really only a browser interface to the UKTV site. Commercials are server sided and can't be patched. All references to Amazon can be patched and the app will work on the Shield as it does on Google TV. Some ads are coming from channel 4 and this reference can also be patched. The other UK catch-up apps except from channel 4 are all available on the Google TV Store, e.g. My5, ITV Hub, TVPlayer, BBCPlayer etc. You need an UK account to download them or use APKCombo which allows downloads without Geo restrictions and has all apps which are for Android TV available.

Regretfully the all4 app downloaded from Amazon on Firestick won't work and is not patchable as it has references to Url's and extensions from the Amazon OS and the web site needs those to resolve the links. Cloning the mobile app and using it with a mouse toggle is quite possible. But the commercials are terrible. Not watchable for me in my opinion.

I myself am really not too bothered about the Ads …Just as long as I can get UKTV Play working on the shield TV.
I did extract the UKTV PLAY app from a 4k Fire TV Stick and it did indeed install on the shield. But alas ..was force closing and I suspected also that there needs to be some form of patching done on the 1MB apk base file. You mentioned All references to Amazon can be patched ?...Any help or a push in the right direction would be most welcome Sir as I am after UKTVPlay as priority .
I have ATV versions of My5, ITV Hub, TVPlayer, BBCPlayer running on my shield TV 2017 ATM .I also have All4 installed as a usable with the mouse toggle...which I can live with.
STV Player was another one that I also nearly had working OK ..But the screen display on the shield TV is Huge and it blocks out part of the Device verification code ...so even if I did manage to get that working via guessing the last 2 digits (6 digit code onscreen. Only shows 4) Then I think it will still be unusable as the resolution is Huge.

Update: I managed to remove the Amazon permissions from the UKTV Play Base version which I extracted from the FireTV 4k and it`s now working perfect on my Shield-TV 2017 Model
I also figured out the STV Player problem.

the problem with ATV Version i either cannot get them or they are server-sided

for eg
STV either they dont have ATV or my shield won't find it from the store and I've tried finding it but no luck
ITV HUB is installed by default in the shield and no way to uninstall and when extracted it breaks
UKTV PLAYER cannot be found either and says it cannot be found on the shield
the fire cube version has the website in the code and is server ads that cannot be disabled via ATV

i would like to Mod some of these if possible and if anyone can grab ATV versions i can have a go

Hi Mate no problem whatsoever Sir and thank you for your reply and informative response.

I actually have extracted the UKTV PLAY AmazonFireTV 4K base and removed the Amazon dependencies.
It now installs and works flawless on the shield TV.
I also extracted the STV player base ..This installs fine in the Shield also and functions , after install it prompts display screen with a verification code. You then need to actually use the mouse toggle cursor and double tap the screen ,so as to reduce the zoomed screen...you are now able to see the verification code and input that into your account to enable the player on the Shield TV.
I will share my modified UKTV Play base .apk + it`s icon fix for ATV and the original of this and the STV Player .
Hopefully you can do some tweaking.

I just updated UKTV+Play too I added leanback support lol from the firetube version seems to run nicely on the shield
