Your best bet is to use the recently released YouTube Vanced Extended. It's the same name with different individual behind the project.

I`m not sure why but for some reason media controls stay stuck on screen when watching a video and won`t let me tap on it to make it go away.

I think it's a bug. Never had it before.

Finally replaced the final YouTube Vanced still installed on my phone. Everything working as it should. Great work all involved.
