Those must be good media players then because they are detecting the actual encoding within and using the proper codec.
I can personally vouch for mp4's since I've done my own independent research on the format years ago and have manipulated it in undocumented ways (setting fake fairplay bits, setting fake purchased account bits, etc). I always converted my music to the mp4 container with audio encoded in ALAC (back when I did iOS hax, before migrating to android)

I just want to further prove my point with this example I just performed. I have 2 test subjects here, an actual mp3 I found via google (downloaded first result that appeared) and a Pandora mp4 with its extension renamed to mp3. I specifically used a command line player designed to play mp3's only.
Subject 1 (actual mp3 file): player is successful in reading its tag and actually playing the file.
Image

Subject 2 (Pandora mp4 renamed to mp3): player cannot locate id3 tags and considers headers to be junk because it cant understand them
Image
A dumb media player that cant detect encoding and uses a codec based on file extension would result the same as subject 2, it cant read the "mp3". A good media player would detect the encoding and use the appropriate codec regardless of file extension.

Thanks again for taking the project at hand ;) on the serious note isnt hard to convert mp4 to mp3.

I just want to keep this as simple as possible, also converting to mp3 will mean loss in sound quality since mp3 is a lossy compression and the mp4's pandora uses aren't the greatest quality to start with.

Swavey: This will not work with v4.5, since the code difference between 4.5 and 5.2 are drastically different. I suggest you upgrade to 5.2, unless your unlimited version can do something my patcher cannot (besides license bypass), which I would be interested in knowing about.

our definition of external storage differs from what android considers external storage. What we consider external storage consists of sdcards, but android considers external storage being the FUSE partition on devices that cannot accept sdcards (the partition where you can save your files is considered external storage).

This happens because my patcher was designed to work primarily with Pandora 5.2. I can try to add a conditional to revert to other patches based on Pandora app version. Please PM me a copy of Pandora 5.0 so I can find the places where to apply the old patches again.

I'm a little upset guys, I posted this update and all my previous updates using free filehosts for everyone's benefit (If you have a preferred free filehost, please let me know.) By posting them on free filehosts, I do not make a single penny from downloads and I'm not making everyone jump through hoops by using adf.ly, so this is 100% free. I'd like to keep it that way, if anyone has a blog or knows of a blog that reposts my stuff using paid links, please ask them to stop and take them down, otherwise I could simply decide to keep this internal again as it initially was and release it to a few people who've vouched for my app when it was still a crappy app with a crappy UI. Or it could just be a case of a crappy Tuesday.

Does the patcher install the Pandora folder under Music when selecting "music downloader" under TWEAKS, or does the folder need to be manually placed under music on the SD?!?
clicking the thumb up doesn't do anything for me as well expect for the becoming orange ( I do have 5.2 installed)
I never had a Pandora folder under music after choosing the setting in the patcher, so I added the folder myself...but no downloads happening either or...
The rest is working great, just can't get the download to execute (unless I'm missing something obvious)
Thanks

The patcher creates the folder automatically. Try enabling the music download option again and try again
