Mate has there been any updation in the Wikipedia database? I wish if there is any. On the XDA site somebody able to convert britannica in to .MDX format. Can it be shared here. I am finding it really very hard to convert the wiki files in to .txt format. I downloaded it from startdict. Can You please throw some light on this aspect.

Hi I don't think that the wikipedia file was ever updated for MDict. You can find larger wikipedia databases for programs like tomeraider. I do have the Britannica Concise Encyclopedia.

I haven't got a clue. When I look at the resource info it just tells me that its the britannica encyclopedia but it doesn't give any more info. There is the Britannica 2005 here but its not for MDict:

Did you click 'Library' and then 'Add All Library Files To List'? You can store the databases anywhere on your ppc but the program needs to find them before it can read them. I assume that if the database you downloaded was zipped that you unzipped it and put the file with the '.mdx' extension on your ppc?

If you follow the instructions from xda-developers exactly you should be able to do the conversion no problem. Tell me where you are getting stuck and I will replicate that part of the procedure here and tell you what to do next.

ID bro I have downloaded the files from the starDict website. That was a wikipedia archive which contains .ifo, .idx, .dict.dz. The .MDX converter wants us to have .txt files & one style format file. I installed convstar & tried to convert the above mentioned files[.idx etc] in to .txt but nothing happens. I am not able to understand how to convert these in to what is required by MDX builder. I believe that wikipedia source has some updated files. Go here to check out what exactly those files are. Go here
http://www.stardict.org/wikipedia/
Thats what I have done & where I am stuck.
