Does the desire not need 'rooted' to do this? I'm just trying to get up to speed on things before it arrives!

I thought current progress was that root access has been achieved but there are still read/write issues or something like that?

Anyway please do fill me in on the missing details!

I'm waiting for Paul at MoDaCo to finish his work so Desire can be rooted.
After installing some apps, the memory just finish, so I'm waiting the root (or Google to fix this) to install stuff on sdcard.

You can't install on the memory card.... that really sucks. Lets hope it gets rooted soon. We seem to be partway there.

Am I right in thinking I can still install anything on here without root access ghale?

Google Earth installs fine on the Desire but it will take up 22Mb space. Very much looking forward to getting it rooted..
