GPS auto-enable is no more possible for normal apps, so to get that you have to install LocService as a system app (More info below).
It automatically enables GPS briefly, then turns it off until next location check. That way it saves a lot of battery time.

Download Instructions: To install as system app:
1.Copy file onto root of SD card
2.Open terminal and enter these commands, one by one. Note that if you are using command prompt on your PC you have to first enter "adb shell" (with no "). If you are under linux, insert "./adb shell"

# cat /sdcard/org.ajeje.locservice15.apk > /system/app/org.ajeje.locservice15.apk
