GPS applications, rather than GPS navigation software

Torque v1.2.47
Requirements: all Android versions, supports App2SD
Overview: See what your car is doing!! Torque is a vehicle / car performance / diagnostics tool that uses Bluetooth ELM/OBD/PLX adapters to connect to your OBD2 engine management / ECU

Image

It can use the GPS to provide tracker logs with engine logging so you can see what you were doing at any point in time
It can also show and reset a DTC / fault code like a scantool.
It also has:

* Dyno / Dynomometer and Horsepower/HP
* 0-60 timings - see how fast your car is (or truck :))
* Massive fault code database for allowing lookup of fault codes from many different manufacturers
* Send logging information to web or email CSV/KML for analysis via excel / openoffice
* Heads up display / HUD
* GPS Speedo/Tracking - see what you were doing and your engine, at a point in time
* Turbo boost feature for vehicles that support MAP sensors
* Alarms (for example if your coolant temperature goes over 120C!)

Works on any vehicle that supports the OBD2 standard (most vehicles built after 2000 (diesels after 2004) but can work for vehicles as far back as 1996) - if in doubt check with your manufacturer first or look for 'OBD2' on written on a big white label in your engine bay

Has been reported to work on vehicles made by GM/Vauxhall/Opel, Ford, Chrysler, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, Citroen, Peugoet, Skoda, Kia, Mazda, Lexus, Daewoo, Renault, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, BMW, Toyota, Seat, Dodge and many more vehicle makes

If you buy one of the cheap china OBD2 bluetooth adapters from ebay/amazon, then make sure you have a good returns policy with the seller as quite a few of the cheap units are defective and 'stop working'/etc.

Some of the best reliable OBD2 adapters are the Scantool.net adapter, the OBDKey adapter, and PLX Devices Kiwi Bluetooth - search on google for where to get them!

More features added every release - there are forums at http://torque-bhp.com/ - if you want something added then let me know and I'll try to add it if it is possible!

Recent changes:
* Ability to trim 'Boost' readings

* Fixed missing dial backgrounds

* More settings including hiding the title bar and turning off GPS warnings

* MPG dials may need to be deleted and re-created with this release if they stopped working.

Check the changelog in the forums at http://torque-bhp.com/ for more information!

installed fine on my rooted DX but if you can afford the hardware that goes with this to make it work (bluetooth module @ $100 or wifi module @ $150) then you wouldnt mind forking out $4 for this app or getting the ad version for free.

Still cool s/w though.

i bought a cheap bluetooth adapter off ebay, 27 bucks mailed from cali instead of hk, and it works great with my audi. had a few codes, tracking down a problem with either my o2 sensors, or maf right now. the logging is really helpful to see if its running rich or lean, or what voltages the o2 sensors are throwing out.

thats the one i got, works great. have no problems with it. torque is definitely the best program for linking to these, especially the cheap ones, if you're on android. just make sure that your car supports standard obd2 protocols and you should be good to go. i have a 96 audi a4 and mostly everything shows up that i'd want to look at, but some stuff like the knock sensors and whatnot need custom pid's and i haven't really looked for those yet. i mainly bought this for the electrical problem with my o2 sensors, because it was cheaper than paying my shop for a half hours work just to scan the codes.

Can I use this without OBD2? Just the phone itself?

To do what? The app is for displaying data fed from your vehicle. Without the OBDII interface it will just display blank dials..

To track my speed, path, etc. I used race chrono on windows mobile and I loved it but I can't find any good similar app for android.

you can use the gps features, and those dials will show up. its really mean to be used with an obd2 reader though..probably not the best interface for tracking.

hi
this is a good app, but only as good as the OBD reader, i have got one of the cheap ones off e bay and while it works static, it will not let the vehicle move without cutting out and disabling the engine so half the operations are not being able to be used!.
its does say this is a fault with the cheap reader/OBD unit on the torque website, be warned!.
( i have a 2006 mondeo tdci)
