as the developer of this application, I would like to ask that any of you that find use in this tool, please consider buying the full release. we spent a lot of time in the development of this application, and hope to be able to continue to add new features. if we are unable to make sales on this, we will more than likely drop the development of this tool, and move on to something new.

unfortunately, this application was only available on the market for less than 3 days before it was posted here, thus negating the possibility of making any reasonable amount of sales on initial release.

that being said - if you do continue to use this tool, i would hope that the least you can provide to us, is a bit of feedback as to what you might like or dislike about the tool. i really dont think that is too much to ask.

thank you.

LOL

that had me LOL, too.

@talondesigns, we've had a similar discussion with another Android developer in this topic:
viewtopic.php?f=438&t=113047
Respectfully, please read it, you'll see you might actually *gain* paying users from this. Your app would never have gotten this amount of exposure in the first 3 days had it not been posted here (imho).

@talondesigns

Slightly of topic (has nothing to do with your app).
The main reason I come to this site is that I don't have access to paid apps. I had a G1 and had to root it to gain access to paid apps. Then I upgraded to a Desire with hasn't been rooted yet and can't install the apps that I paid for.
I know it's not your fault but if more people (especially developers) complain to Google about the fact that many countries and devices (I also have an Archos 5 IT, same problem) don't have full access to the Market, with no obvious reason, maybe, just maybe they will do someting about it.
I only speak for myself but I'm sure that if an app is good and the price is not outrageous (many medical apps are!) people will buy them, even only for the convenience of having the latest version.
Just my 0.02$.

@davidgilling: two words - you know what they are...

@phaelox: obviously you have been around the block :) thank you for the non childish reply.

i couldnt post a followup yesterday, because the moderator took away my permissions from being able to reply to this post. im unsure as to why, i didnt think that my first post was slanderous in any way. i was just simply posting a comment about the release. now, today i am able to reply - so i will.

i understand the good side to 'sharing' software. honestly i dont see anywhere in my post that said that i was all 'pi$$y' about it or anything. the only thing that i said was that i wished it could have been given a couple more days before it was released :) - in fact, i talked to my business partner about it, and we both feel that its not only a learning experience, but as mentioned in the other post, its a good way to get the application out there, might not be ideal for the 'garage band' style developer trying to make a few bucks, but good none the less.

thank you for the time to post something intelligent.. as well as in the other post as well. it was a good read.

@paso: i understand that as well. trust me, we have posted our complaints to google with regards to their 'beta' market. there are a lot of things missing, and out of sync with the way things need to be. even more than just not being able to access applications from other countries. there are a lot of missing links between the developer and the market as well.

forgive me for not understanding the first paragraph (rooting a g1 to access the market) as i am pretty new to the android development scene.

but yes.. with regards to the archos, thats the only reason that i havent thought about buying one.

@the rest: fortunately the feedback that we have received on the free version has given us some direction on where to proceed. yes, the cost was too high for the application. we only went on what we were told. some of the feedback we received went to our heads when it came to releasing the application.

anyway - as mentioned earlier - please consider purchasing if you can (we dropped the price to a much more reasonable 4.99 to assist in the future of this tool). we are very open to feedback, and honestly look forward to seeing just how far this application can go.

@lifehacker (or other moderators involved): cuz i know you pay attention. thank you for allowing me to post a followup message.

You're welcome, and thank you for being open to discussion instead of outright dismissing anything being said. I sincerely hope you will see a nice revenue from your development efforts.

paso points you to the Market Enabler application (not made by Google obviously), which fools Market into thinking your phone is actually bought in a different country. However you need root (AKA superuser, akin to administrator on a Windows machine) access to be able to use it. Rooting is the process of making root access available on your device. Some firmwares will allow you to, very simply, push some files to the device, others you'll need to downgrade with a hack, then either push the needed files, or install a custom recovery ROM and flash a (pre-rooted) custom ROM image.
The problem comes from phones that have not yet been rooted, and non-technically inclined users for whom rooting is simply too advanced, or they're worried about breaking their phone's warranty! (which happens, as soon as you root your phone)

IMHO that's a wise decision. Also, as a suggestion, you might want to consider play around with your pricing a little every now and then; decreasing the price a bit for a little while, then increasing it again. Appbrain.com (popular 3rd party front end to the Android Market) has filters that shows you apps with price drops. This could get you extra attention.
