I did some research regarding leaving phone connected after its charged and found that all say that batteries nowadays are not affected at all by being constantly connected to mains.

Interesting.

I supposed by the time there's any significant battery issues we'd properly have moved on to a newer device by then.

I'm interested for the alarm, not to preserve my battery. Not so worried about that.

My tablet didn't come with any sounds or alerts associated with charging at all. The only indications are the icon in the top corner changing from normal to charging. So I've been trying to find something to replace that basic functionality (thanks HP!) and I think this'll do it.
