Requirements: Varies with device
Overview: AquaMail is an email app for Internet and Exchange mail, for Android 4.0.3 and higher.

Description
Works with many other email services via standard Internet email protocols (IMAP, POP3, SMTP).
IMAP push mail (instant incoming email delivery) for those servers that support the IDLE extension (Gmail, GMX, AOL… not supported by Yahoo).
Microsoft Exchange is supported via IMAP or EWS:
Exchange (EWS) accounts provide access to server side contacts (personal and global, with search), and Calendar sync. Recognizes mail accounts hosted at Office 365 and Exchange Online.
Plays well with other email apps that you may be using to access your IMAP or EWS mailbox. Uses existing folder structure, can synchronize drafts, sent, and deleted messages.
Widgets (message counts, message list).
Swiping in message list (actions) and between messages.
Can save attachments as files.
Message auto-fit (like in Gmail).
Rich text formatting when writing messages (including embedding images, in the signature too).
Android Wear (4.3+).
OAUTH2 for Gmail (Google's preferred, "more secure" authentication method).
Integration with Tasker (change settings, trigger mail check, message based events).
Integration with Light Flow, Enhanced SMS & Caller ID, Cloud Print, Apex Launcher Pro, Nova Launcher / Tesla Unread, Executive Assistant, DashClock Widget.
Lots of settings to configure the application just the way *you* would like. Separate settings for WiFi and mobile connections.
Backup and restore of app and account settings via Dropbox, OneDrive, Box.com, Google Drive.
This is the Lite version, which is limited to two accounts, no identities, and adds a promo signature to all outgoing messages with a link to the program's web site.
You can add more than two accounts, use identites, and remove the promo signature by purchasing the Pro Unlocker app here on Play.

WHAT'S NEW

+ Bug fixes / changes in the code that highlights URLs / phone numbers / emails in message content.
+ Added "unread count badge on app icon" for Huawei (5.0+)
+ Navigation drawer: show "total messages" not "unread messages" for the Drafts folder -- as a reminder for "did I send that important message".
+ Darken "very very light account colors" more than before for the app's action bar, so the white icon and title are readable.
These changes are not merged into 1.6.4-dev yet.

Well...you might have guessed that is why i even mentioned I have a backup...but the risk seems high as I have not done it before and I REALLY have things I can't lose (work email).
Looking for feedback as to WHAT is restored and if there is something I need to do prior (purge, etc).

Backup with Titanium and then restore only Data. This should work but do it at your own risk. I'm speaking in general how things normally are supposed to work. Again, make a backup with Tibu, uninstall old app only if needed (if not install over the old one), then back in Tibu, find the backup and hit restore data only. That ought to do it. In Aqua there's some back up setting as well ... so u can have a double backup this way :) hope it helps. Then again, if sth ain't broken why fix it? Has the new version got something you need SOO badly? Prolly not, haven't looked into the changelog for the latest release but the [v1.6.2.9-12 Final Stable] I'm running is good nuff. Now you got me curious as to try the newer version.

I'm saying all this with the assumption that u realize Titanium Backup is the best backup app in the Galaxy (and I don't mean Samsung)!

Just use Balatan apk... Nocna and fooh are not so regular guys who will update Aqua mail here for you but balatan sure will. Month ago balatan was on vacation that time mobilism is like dead pool. Well about restoring backup is not a critical task. . Just restore it, it will then show all of yours emails. Sometime you just need to allow permission from the email provider after restoring aqua mail. I ithink its not an tidy task.

No root guys or I wouldn't freak out...
I mentioned work email...you can imagine Mobile Iron and the likes.
I get the point about regularity of updates.

@ipse:
Just trust in the built in backup. I have used it so many times and it never failed.
backup - uninstall - reinstall - restore
It is really that easy.
