You are very fast!

squawksarah, I use Win7 64 bits too.
I installed 6.3 withou removing 6.0. I just installed as the instruction says in the zip file.
It seems to work well.

Try it.

Hello,
I've a problem: i use B4A v.4.30, i've developed a simple app, with an activity, a class and a service.

I want to compile it in an APK to distribute easily.

I've created a private key, compiling and running work without problem in debug mode (device is connected by b4a bridge wifi), but unable to install the app on the phone; i've an short message "application can not be installed".

I've tried with BlueStacks and it works. I don't understand.

1. have u tried copying the apk file to the device and manually installing it?

2. it will not install if u have changed your key. you will have to uninstall the previous version first.

3. try compiling under release mode rather than debug mode.

The difference between Bluestacks and a real device is that the device is hardware and o/s specific and may not be able to do what your app requires of it. If a app isn't completely compatible with a device or its operating system version it will not install. i am sure Bluestacks will install and run anything so it is not a good test for an app, rather it is a way of running Android on a PC.

1. Yes; install failed
2. I know that, but install worked neither with the first key nor with the second, so nothing to uninstall. I redid the project to avoid this mistake, but always failed
3. debug mode is for testing app on the device, and it works. In release mode, it fails

so it installs in debug but not as a normal release? that IS strange. sounds like a bug in b4a. might be time to install b4a 6.30 ?

I agree but this kind of bug should be known ? i'm not the only guy who use/used B4A v4 !
I'm not sure updating b4a is the solution.
I will try with another device, to see.

kounta, I searched the B4A forum and found no remarks regarding this type or error. It may be an issue with your app itself. Something that is causing an operating system error that is somehow 'caught' when in debug mode. My way of dealing with this sort of thing is to go back to an earlier version of my app and try it. I then work forward through my backups of the app until it fails. This tells me which code is causing the issue.

Of course, if you don't save each new development version in a separate folder you can't do this. But if you do back up your developing app then it is a great way to find what is causing an app to fail.

B4A 6.3 itself covers the BLE2 Lib.

Thanks squawksarah, it's an excellent idea !
I can't test the app progressively.

It's important for me to understand this error, because i've a huge app in preparation and if installation failed, it's useless to continue :-(

FAILED AGAIN !

I've made a test app ultra simple: one layout with 1 panel et 2 labels. No code, nothing else.
I "load" the key (the same as for the other app), i run the app in release directly by wifi bridge and failed to install ! (the device always ask if i want install on internal memory, sd card or let system decides, i choose last one, but it doesn't work with the other choices).
test 2: i send the apk by mail to install manually: failed !
test 3: i test the app in debug mode : failed !

A strange think more: after first test, device considers new installs test as an update of the app ! the authorizations are not showed because they are already known by the device ! but the app appears nowhere...

have you set the app to allow install to external memory card? it should install to internal memory by default. i have never seen the installer process ask where to install the app.

squawksarah, no, it wasn't. Now it's done.

I've 3 choices:
- Let the system decides
- Install on internal memory
- Install on SD card.

When i install an app from the Store, i never had this kind of request no more
