I for one have luckily been able to leave this app behind. My friend who could only text me with the TextNow app finally learned a better way.

The better solution was Google Voice. Once I got her to switch over TextNow was dead for us.

Google Voice gives you a free number and an app with no ads. Plus it has many other features.

I'm not sure if GV is available outside the US but I'll bet if you use a US VPN to sign up you'd be good to go. As far as I know, you can use GV outside the US without a VPN once you've signed up.

Too complicated. And my phone can't be rooted. Is there any other text call app cracked with a free number that works by simply installing it?

My answer is fairly simple.

Google Voice gives you a free phone number for each of your Google accounts. The app they provide is advertisement free so no need to use a "modded" app.

See I used to use google voice a long time ago, however I did install it but uninstalled it because yep i got to pick a number upon install but then it goes to asking for a regular phone number to forward calls to, I dont want them forwarded WTH. and there was no way to get past that screen without doing so. So that made no sense to me. Unless you know? Maybe after that it opens the app and i can goto settings and disable forwarding? IDK I didnt try.

Good point.

I think Google requires you to have a real phone number to set up an account and get a GV number and I'm not sure if there's a workaround for that.

But with that being said I believe you can go into the setting on the app and easily turn off call forwarding.

I suggest you get a GV number and play around with the app. The settings can be a bit confusing at first but it's very easy to change the settings and test the effect, wash and repeat till you find what works best. Keep in mind you can text back and forth from your regular cell number to your GV number on the same phone, this makes testing settings easy.

One last point, I've found that if you use a desktop browser you can go to voice.google.com and set up your account, etc. I think the settings are a bit easier to understand that way, plus you can also send and receive texts directly from any PC/web browser which is nice when your phone isn't handy.

I installed the apk and it just disappeared. Not in the Apps List as well. Is it a malware or something? Also, ran scans via Avast, turned out nothing wrongs.
