People getting the freezes, are you guys using the region bypass? In the logcat I'm seeing a crash due to not being able to contact stats.pandora.com
Also, the logcat needs a bit more detail. Please enable debug logging from within the Pandora app by typing @cmd:log in the search box in Pandora.

Not using region bypass. Here's a log with debugging enabled within Pandora:

I'm on a Samsung Note 3 running a touchwiz-based custom ROM... so the theory below this post could hold true.

Samsung puts all kinds of "smart" features in their stock ROM... so I could see this (a "smart pause" feature) as being likely.

I'm going to take a super wild guess as to what's going on based on the logcats. I have two theories:
1. Samsung has some "smart" features which "pause" applications under certain conditions. When it pauses, it might make the application/service/activity/etc inaccessible/inactive and when it comes time to update the notification, it bugs out with this:
Code: Select allW/ContextImpl(  845): Calling a method in the system process without a qualified user: android.app.ContextImpl.sendBroadcast:1505

2. It could be the same issue as above except not Samsung specific caused by missing entries in AndroidManifest.XML as described here
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2805 ... pplication
I'm thinking it's #1 because I'm not getting such freezes with my HTC ROM. I suspect any OEM implementing some sort of smart pause feature might be to blame. Is like some feedback on devices and type of ROM (OEM, custom OEM, cm/aosp, gpe, etc)

People have mentioned that pressing OK twice gets rid of the error, and the program continues as normal. This is only half-true. Songs all play fine, but downloading a song results in an mp3 that only contains the first 5-10 seconds of the song.

Is this what everyone else is experiencing? I'm on HTC, and also have no freezes.

I downloaded Nick Thayer - Facepalm.mp3 yesterday (192kbps via Pandora One), and it is 6.4MB in size. Samsung's Sound Player app shows the song as 4:33 in length, and I've been listening to it the whole time I have been writing this reply. Skipping throughout the entire song, and finally to the end, seems to indicate that the full song was downloaded. I got a few others yesterday, as well, and they're all a similar size and duration... and they all seem to be complete.

Hope that helps to narrow down the impact. I honestly don't see any negative impact at all... those two popups don't seem to indicate any loss of functionality as far as I can tell.

My theories are regarding the Pandora freezes. Try disabling the rich notifications and see if Pandora still freezes.

I do not have a Pandora One subscription, so I can't vouch for 192kbps songs. But the 4 or 5 songs I have downloaded as mp3 were all short, finished within seconds, and were under 100K in size.

In Pandora 5.7 and 5.8...
I only got the freezing the first couple times I used Pandora. Those first times, I was on the Play Store version. I would then install the mirrored version, possibly get one or two more... but for the weeks and months after (until the next update), I had zero problems with freezing whatsoever.

In Pandora 5.9...
It's trending in the same direction. Yesterday, I installed the Play version, and it froze once. I immediately downloaded and installed the mirrored apk, and it didn't freeze again. I've listened to a few hours of Pandora today so far, and still no freezes. Enough time hasn't passed for me to say this will continue... but it seems to be following the same trend. It's almost like Pandora needs to bed in a little bit to work correctly.

BTW... I keep the rich notification on all the time. It's one of my favorite features of the Patcher. I'd actually rather Pandora freeze every once in a while than turn it off.

What device and ROM are you on? I'm trying to isolate the issue to whether it's due to OEM gimmicky features, or Pandora with rich notifications on. Probably the reason why Pandora without patcher runs without issue (rich notifications disabled by default) and then freeze fest with patcher. Also maybe why I don't have freezes on HTC, but someone gets them on Samsung.

Verizon Note 3 / JasmineROM 2.4.4

If the rich notifications are causing the problem... it might stand to reason why Pandora has not yet implemented the feature. I understand it's a feature that's latent in the code, which the Patcher exposes and allows use of, correct? Why else would Pandora hide this feature?

By the way, a friend of mine that sits right next to me here at work has an HTC One (M7)... and he too got the same freezing on his phone in previous releases. (To the best of my knowledge, he hasn't updated to 5.9 yet because of the error popups, and the fact that I told him I can't really see any big improvements in the new version of Pandora anyway) I couldn't tell you what ROM he was on (and neither could he, probably) because he's constantly flashing janky, poorly-developed ROMs in an effort to get the perfect blend of features, which, evidently, does not exist. If you see this... Hi, Brandon! Now, get back to work. I don't want to hear John, Erin, or Ron yelling at you for getting behind. 8)

I'll do some extensive testing on the M7, which I passed down to a family member so I have easy access to it.

The logs I pulled were from a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy s5 with stock 4.4.2 TW ROM. I had one freeze and the "3002" error messages upon launching Pandora. Didn't play with it long enough to see if freezes were recurrent or not.
