AdAway is an open source ad blocker for Android using the hosts file.

To all users with Galaxy Note Android 4 stock rom:
The stock rom ships with a broken toolbox, which prevents AdAway from working.

• Read/Write access on system partition

Caused a bootloop on my Sprint Note 4 ... Make sure you do a nandroid backup before installing just in case.

Do toy have: Busybox, SuperSU etc... installed?

You can also just modify your "hosts" file and add records from Lucky Patcher, Spybot, MVPS, dpHosts (I forget the proper name...)

Why you need this running? Download the new host files once in awhile and that's all you need!

Could be anything... Either a proxy issue or the ROM on your device enables it's own adblock feature which disables AdAway.

Unless you mean the Web Server function within the app.

I think you have to add records one-by-one if you don't want custom entries (modifying the file directly) removed during an update...


What text editor do people recommend? I'm using 920 Text Editor which spits the dummy with 3-5mb+

Why are you bumping this you make people think there is a new version.

I'm newbie..can somebody explain what it's mean by ROOT?? can this app block ads in the browser?

doesnt work right on my new galaxy s4 android 4.4.4

i havent gotten it to work since i upgraded from my lg optimus q which is like android 2.3.4

any ideas or is there an update that works with 4.4.4?
