as stated above this version works fine, but not for those with custom 2.1 ROMs ... it does not run and thus you have to reinstall each app individually rather than batch as you have to use the free version :(

Why would the license file not work on your custom 2.1 ROM, if it's confirmed to work in general? Just uninstall TB, then reinstall from market(!), and copy the license.txt from here to your /sdcard.

Personally, I would recommend buying a license, because the dev updates very frequently with bug fixes and new features, so it's worth it, so you can update through market. Just my humble 2 cents worth.

Here is the official message and or response from the DEV regarding the issue. I am not sure if it was for 2.1 Custom ROMs in genaral or just Villian ROM

The last version of Titanium Backup avalaible on Market works ok with this ROM.
It seems the problemes with this ROM were resolved.

The autor of Titanium said here http://android.modaco.com/index.php?...post&p=1232121
The "license file" warning is simply because my app crashes before it can copy your license file from the SD card.

The problem (crash) itself is not related to the license file, but with /system/bin/getprop which is missing in the "Villain 5.02" ROM. The usage of "getprop" command was added recently, to detect the ROM version, phone name, phone serial number, and tag your backups with that information (even in the Free version). This will be useful for future versions, where I could add backup filtering features "by ROM name", and/or optional warnings when restoring system files across different ROMs.

I will fix the crash when "getprop" is missing from the ROM, but it will mean that on "Villain 5.02" ROMs, your backups will not be tagged with the ROM version when you create them. The workaround is to add /system/bin/getprop to this ROM manually. If you do that, please report success (or failure) here

Thanks !

Edit: This bug is fixed in Titanium Backup 2.9.7.1.

Thus 2.9.4 is redundant... at least for Villian ROM users...

As for me, the next version that I'll release will be 3.0.0, and I'll release the next "major" releases too.

And I second phaelor, if you can't wait, you should buy a license because its dev has made a great job ;D

Hi there Pixondo. Sorry if you feel I have been rude or impatient or what ever. I really appreciate your work and effort in uploading this terrific software. I do try and support Devs as much as possible, so yes I will be buying it.

I was just asking if you guys had a newer version at that time when I could not restore my apps. So once again sorry if you guys felt I was ungrateful or something.

Many thanks.

The version in the OP does not let me restore my apps after a fresh install on CM 5.0.6T2.
It says "backup available" and "not installed". The restore operation completes in 3 seconds and does nothing :(

Download the latest free version and manually restore the apps. Worked for me.
