Word of warning though.... since a couple of versions, when the dev added a new feature "Show Resident Apps", this app can make your phone unbearably slow. This only happens when you elect to show resident apps and/or when you put this app in the notification bar..... Everything -your entire phone- will slow down to a crawl. Don't know if this only happens on Android 1.5, but I've seen comments in Market from other people with the same problem. I left a comment in Market about it, but I don't know if the dev reads those.... If you leave resident apps hidden, and instead of adding app to notification bar you just put a shortcut on your home screen, or use the long-press-search-key option, it will work.... (although unfortunately it still takes 5 seconds on my Hero to open).

I cant seem to get the long press of the search key to work.
I enable it in the settings, then when I try it, I get the choice of voice search or quick compose for handcent sms. I cleared the handcent defaults but still no cigar. Free version wont work either. Have to launch the app from the app drawer... Nexus one
