Personally I would have no qualms using this apk (especially if one considers what is its purpose - it is bound to have suspicious looking activity). Having said that one should always be suspicious when using pirated software . One of the questions you have to ask is why does an individual ( or group of posting under one alias) go thru the effort of hacking/posting hacked applications. All Virus Checkers give different reading on .apk files so who can tell but I do know this app is ok.

Exactly. Pirated software is the main vector for malware to spread on Android, and some random guy on the Internet saying "trust me, it's safe" is just not enough for me (especially if a neutral virus scanner brings up all kinds of warning flags).
There seem to be a lot of wishful thinking in the warez scene, where everybody is sure that their favorite software will never be infected...

Anyway, I went through the trouble to unpacking this app, as well as one directly from the Adguard site, and ran a comparison program on them.
The only differences found were some minor definitions (different values for variables, different gotos, etc.), that would've been caused by the slightly newer version from the developer's site. So, it does seem to be safe.
The reason NVISO found references to some sketchy sites (elite-sex-finder.com, etc) was because they were included in a filter list (which also exists in the official version).

Now, ktx-nz, please don't tell me "I told you so"...
Your assumption that is was safe wasn't really based on any facts. Like I said before, just because the software worked fine doesn't mean it's not infected; so you really didn't have any way of actually knowing that it's safe. You were just hoping it would be...

Why other versions are not blocked by anti-virus software?

How do you know that these are false positives?
Did you actually analyze the package yourself, to verify it doesn't contain malware?
Just because it does what it's supposed to do, doesn't mean it couldn't also carry some malware payload (which might only kick in at specific times, or just harvests your info without affecting the functionality of the app itself).

Download the unmodified app from developer site and check for malware with that, you will get your answers.
