It will definitely 'abuse' your SD card due to the many 'swap' (frequent read and write) operations.
I have used similar apps for older phones with tiny RAM; it does improve the O/S stability, creates less OOM (out of memory) events and keeps more apps up and running this way. The SD card is still intact after about 4 years.
It is a crutch, but does its job OK.

Thanks for the informations, 4 years is good, and I guess nowadays cards of Class 10 and up must survive longer periods, anyway I will keep testing then decide, best wishes
