Adguard provides you with a reliable and manageable protection that immediately and without your participation filters the loading web pages. Adguard removes all the annoying ads, blocks loading of dangerous websites, and will not allow anyone to track your activities on the Internet.
When processing a web page, Adguard does several things at once:
1. Removes ads and online tracking code directly from the page.
2. Checks a page against our database of phishing and malicious sites.
3. Checks apps downloaded from unknown sources.

Wrong. When configured properly it absolutely blocks all ads. I've only seen a handful of ads ever since I installed AdGuard about 5 months ago. Whether that be in browsers, apps, games, YouTube (app as well), etc. Some ads are built into the apk where they aren't using something such as AdMob and the likes. It's similar to how some devs advertise their other games. AFAIK these types won't ever be blocked, even with root (unless you modify the apk of course). This is very rare to see these types of ads, thankfully.
You must use the VPN option with HTTPS filtering for the most effective ad blocking as well as to block ads across the board.
If you're having trouble changing these settings you can read all about this on the AdGuard blog and also find a tutorial there. It's very simple to do however.
I've never had a problem with this app and highly recommend it to non-rooted users.

I'll chime in too on it blocking ads in apps. I have a lifetime license for Adguard on Android and Windows. Take the stock version of Terrarium TV for instance, it will block everything in that app. Banner ads, even those terrible full screen ads that pop up after every stream. It's pretty awesome, and definitely worth it. Another huge thanks to Balatan for all the work he does.
