What's in this version:
Added support for system apps located in /vendor/app. They can be un-installed and their updates can be integrated (tested on a Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc).
Added new “Backup new user+system apps & newer versions” batch job, which is now part of the default scheduled jobs that are created on a fresh TB install.
Added proper handling of devices that don’t have an Android ID.
Improved progress dialogs to not cancel when touching outside on ICS.
Improved “Restore from Nandroid” feature to display a notification to recommend a reboot after restoring data only for a system app.
Improved notifications on Android 2.2 and earlier: the correct text color is auto-detected now.
Force enable the “System app libs in ROM” option on ICS, which allows to successfully convert eg: Google Chrome to a system app with TB’s default settings.
Fixed issues when rotating the screen on Android 3.2+.
Misc UI tweaks & bugfixes (mainly for ICS & Honeycomb).
Updated translations.

Instructions:
1. Install the latest version of Titanium Backup into Internal Memory (Don't run)
2. Install LuckyPatcher (Run, custom patch!)
3. Enjoy

I experienced the same issue, after de-installing the version 5.1, even after an extra reboot.
I then browsed the device for leftovers *titan* and found:
a) a leftover ODEX file in the \Data area of the internal memory
b) a backup folder on the external SD card where all old backups of apps reside

By deleting the ODEX file and (just in case, probably unneccessary) renaming the old backup folder I managed to install the new revision and unlock it with LP as described above.
Renaming the old backup folder to its original name makes the previous backup files of apps visible again for restore jobs.
So far the new revision appears to work well.

^I'm having the same issue with it saying I don't have enough space. I tried to find the leftover file but can't seem to find it. Can you tell me where to look?

If I remember correctly I discovered the leftover ODEX file in the internal \Data\App folder.
I used RootExplorer to search both the internal and external memory areas for files *Titan*.

Why there is an ODEX file in the APP (not the Dalvik cache) area and why the deinstallation of the (cracked) version 5.1 did not remove it I have no clue, but as said the installation of 5.3 worked fine after removing it manually.
