Darker Pro v1.9.2
Requirements: 2.2 and up
Overview: Darker can lower your screen brightness to extremely low levels, to help prevent eyestrain during the night.

Image

Darker can lower your screen brightness to extremely low levels, to help prevent eyestrain during the night. Use the built-in color filter* to adjust the color of your display, perfect for filtering out harsh white backgrounds during the night.
*The color filter is similar to how the desktop version of f.lux works. Selecting a redder color will reduce more blue light emitted from the display.
Users can either upgrade the free version to Pro through in-app purchase, or directly purchase this version (for countries that don't support In-app purchases) - both are the same in terms of functionality.
Features only in the Pro version:
» Auto-On & Auto-Off
» Start at boot
» Lower brightness below 20%
» Darken navigation bar
» Customizable notification buttons
• Up to three buttons can be added for quick access.
• Buttons to increase and decrease the brightness (+5%, -5%, +10%, -10%)
• Buttons to set a specific brightness (@0%, @10%, @20%, ... , @90%, @100%)
• Quick toggles (stop, pause, reset)
Note: When manually installing APK files, Android blocks the "Install" button from being pressed when Darker is running. This is NOT a bug. It's a protective measure to prevent malicious apps from camouflaging the install button. Pausing Darker will solve this.
Tasker Support
Darker has Tasker support, use these intents to send commands to Darker:
darkerpro.STOP
darkerpro.PAUSE
darkerpro.INCREASE_5
darkerpro.INCREASE_10
darkerpro.DECREASE_5
darkerpro.DECREASE_10
darkerpro.SET_10
darkerpro.SET_20
darkerpro.SET_30
darkerpro.SET_40
darkerpro.SET_50
darkerpro.SET_60
darkerpro.SET_70
darkerpro.SET_80
darkerpro.SET_90
darkerpro.SET_100
darkerpro.TOGGLE_COLOR
darkerpro.ENABLE_COLOR
darkerpro.DISABLE_COLOR
Add the above intents to Tasker by going to Action Category→Misc→Send Intent→Action, leave the other fields default, and note that the intents are case sensitive.
These two intents below need an additional parameter in the "Extra" field
darkerpro.SETCOLOR "Extra" field: COLOR:1~16 (Colors are numbered left to right, top to bottom)
darkerpro.COLORSTRENGTH "Extra" field: STRENGTH:1~10

What's New
- Added Root mode (Enable this mode in the settings)
- Fixed flickering when changing brightness on KitKat devices
- Fixed color filter brightness
- Other bug fixes

I think I understand how to prevent the unnecessary update each time a new version comes out.
using LP, you should change the "app ID" ( dunno what is the pro name for that value )
1. download and install whatever darker.pro version you want to have from our forum.
2. menu of patches->create modified .apk->apk with changed permissions and activities->(don't choose anything but)rebuild Application.
This will make a new APK under your sdCard/luckypatcher/modified/darker.pro/
3. uninstall the current installed version and install the "modified" apk that you have created.
4. PROFIT & report HERE if that method helps or not.

p.s - 1 more thing that might help also:
make sure using titanium backup that the app is "detached" from "google play store".

Got the unlicensed version detected error today, came back here to check comments and tried what you said but the only thing I do not know how to do is "change the appID" and when I view app with titanium backup, I only have an option to "force link" the app to market, not sure how to make sure it is "detached".

That said, I tried everything else you mentioned and I still get the unlicensed version error, even with doing all this with Internet connection off, clearing cache/data, uninstalling, and reinstalling the modified ver created by LP as well as this ver from forum.

If you can explain the app id and titanium backup methods I'll be happy to report back.

@NoXion1, thank for the report

1. One doesn't actually has direct access to the "appID" using L.P... Getting diffrent "appID" is the result of the method I described above.
A prove for getting different appID after the L.P method is that you just can NOT install the rebuilt version of the "cracked"/official build that we got from our forum.
If you wish to read a bit more about that "appID" or in its more correct name "application signature", Look Here.

2. about titanium backup: click on darker pro line to get a popup window for that app, then swipe to the left to get a screen with a lot of option. under "Play Store/Market" if you see a line named "Attach to Market (Forced)", then the app is NOT connected to "play store".
You can click on it to enable that option, and then go to the same menu again to see and click the "Detach from Market" line.
So this state can be toggled as you wish.

3. I think that even after I made all the procedure above I stated - I still got the "please update" whatsoever messege - BUT I got that message IN ADDITION to a working darker pro notification.
Thus, I was able to disable that annoying message through the help of a Xposed module named "NotifyClean".
This means you must be rooted, and you must install Xposed framework.
There are other methods for disable non wanted notifications, through other apps.
The Xposed way is that I can report that works for sure, Cuz I use it, and it works.

4. In addition to all I stated above, I also use XPrivacy ( an Xposed module ) and I enforce a limitations on Darker Pro, So it wont have access for the internet for example.

I hope this clears out few things...
