Acrobat Reader v2.0 Improved version
Requirements: PPC 2002/2003/2005 VGA or QVGA
Overview: Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 extends the value and capabilities of Adobe PDF files by adapting them for high-quality viewing on smaller screens, while preserving their rich content. Working with the ActiveSync filter, which runs on Windows®, Adobe Reader for Pocket PC enables you to view PDF files from your desktop computer anywhere, anytime. Adobe Reader for Pocket PC also makes it easier for you to take digital editions and slide shows along on your Pocket PC device. This is the improved version of Acrobat Reader v2.0.

What I've done:
General improvement: Size of the program to passed from 8mb with approx. 4mb (with UPX4PPC)
-> increase lauch speed and reduce space disk.
VGA Improvement: TrueVGA : increase the quality of reading Instruction d installation: copy Acrobat 2.0 folder and copy ForceHires.cpl (and the other files) in the Windows ffolder. -> reboot -> setting (control panel: enable ForceHires for acrobat.exe

Now VGA user Can read pdf ebook with reflow mode (see for an tagged pdf: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27275&hilit=resident+evil) with TrueVGA resolution (and save space disk and launch Acrobat reader faster)

* Wireless printing: Print directly from a handheld device to a remote printer.*
* Slide show viewing: Easily share Adobe PDF slide shows generated by Adobe Photoshop Album software on handheld devices in portrait or landscape mode.

I. The most safe way to do that is by copying the .pdf file to your device through activesync. It will "feel" that your pdf is not tagged and it will do that for you. Is time consuming (5-10 minutes) but it work best. I think (but I'm not very sure) that you need to have Adobe Acrobat installed for this to happen automatic.

II. The other way will be to open your file with Adobe Acrobat and do the following:
1. Advanced--> PDF Optimizer --> Choose to downsample to 72dpi or 150 dpi (you don't need 300 or 600 on your handheld device - you will not feel the difference and it will be smaller.... much smaller => better responce)
2. Advanced-->Accessibility--> Add tags to documents.
Then copy yhe resulting pdf to your device.

Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat and not Adobe Reader for desktop.

Hi,

So the "good" way would be to install Acrobat reader default - so you have the activesync part working, then overwrite files on device from this pack, as it were a "patch".

Works fine for me on n560 :>

Thanks doodz, great job!

ThanQ verymuch for answering my query!

I have Adobe Reader LE installed in my PPC,which doesn't have 'Reflow' reading!

Shall I install the old "Adobe Reader v2.0" in my PPC and make patching as suggested?

Is it advisable? Will I be able to read books in 'reflow'ed way?

Plz advice! Thanx in advance!

I don't use Reader LE. I use the standard reader 2.0.If You want, I will send you one that support hi-res. I will try it. And also I suggest you to use chm reader witch also hahe the reflow support.

1. unpack (...)
2. Copy folder on storage card (or where u want)
3. Create a shortcut of tha application (if you want it)

Now it's work... (exactly like the Adobe original)

...BUT if you have a VGA display and you want something better: (and that the purpose of this "version")

4. copy the other files on windows folder
5. soft reset Note that the 2 *.cpl needs you have disabled "warning when installed non-certified application" (use SKtools to do that)
6. Start menu -> Settings -> System : have a look to File dialog changer and ForceHires (if u have VGA screen)

Thanx for all for very useful information in this thread!

Recently,I've installed Vista Ultimate in my PC,where 'Windows Mobile Device Center' does the work of Active Sync. But the problem is when I try to transfer a pdf file to my PPC,it is NOT getting converted to 'reflow'ed pdf!

Is there any way we can convert a pdf to reflowed one in Vista?

Anyone encountered similar problems? Kindly share your experience!

Thanx in advance!

You have to use Adobe Acrobat Professional (-6,-7 or -8) to convert to tagged pdf (accessibility ->add tags to document)
If you want the version 8.1.0 (I prefer the 7.0 who is much lighter but i cannot find RS link anymore)
Code: Select allhttp://rapidshare.com/files/54717626/pradac_8.1.0.part1.rar

http://www.aliveupload.com/file/302/www-Freshwap-Net-A-A-P-20v8-1-0-part3-rar.html

(Those are NOT my upload)

PS: I don't test it on vista but if you can install acrobat professional on vista it'll work
PPS: You can alternatively just download the demo from adobe (maybe later use a keygen or paid nearly 999$)

I hope i've helped you
