I've tried a lot of the alternatives - Today's Weather seems "meh" and the best choice so far but nothing compares to Dark Sky.

flatbear is correct; although dark sky has closed, the API will still work through 2021 for apps that already use it. Appy Weather and Today Weather both use dark sky's API.

Today weather has a dozen sources you can choose from.

Weirdly enough dark sky doesn't work correctly on today. Never showed rain graph have to use a different source.

ShadowWeather has been my go to so far. Overdrop was okay but inaccurate at times.

I am not seeing it mentioned in this thread, read myself the news yesterday.
The Dark Sky app has been reverse engineered and you can get a copy of the result from a respective Telegram channel.
The news is here, contains the download link. I've tested it, liked it. enjoy. :)

thanks for the heads up

Eh, its a bit of a bummer how the modder deliberately disabled paid features like notifications and widgets...

hopefully someone will make a better fork...

thanks for the update. The "new" app has no notifications and doesn't plan on adding them. So it's a no go for me. The only thing I liked about Dark Sky was its next hour precipitation forecast and notifications for your specific location. I otherwise found it pretty inaccurate beyond a few hours.

when I look towards the sky I get a pretty good idea about "next hour precipitation forecast". :) and beyond the humble 1 hour period.
All the previously paid features in Dark Sky are of no use to me.
I like things simple and silent.
Of course, other people prefer (and objectively need) more noise and functions. We are all so different in that respect. Maybe decent alternatives do exist.
I am not a fan of AccuWeather (and the company's management, as if it matters:)), moderately like Today Weather. Windy is fun. Yes, personal stuff.
and unimportant details. :)
