Identify a coin by taking a picture of the front and back. The Collector's Eye Free is a Visual Search Image Comparison Coin Identification Application for your Android Mobile Phone. This is the free version which has all of the same capabilities as the paid version. The only difference is after you see a matching image you must share (via social network) the results to get the additional details.

--This relies on a good clear well lit picture. The more shadows on the face of the coin means more guesswork for the Coin Identification Service. Hold your phone a few extra inches away so that the shadow of the phone doesn't cover the face of the coin. Even the text on the coin should be legible so ensure you take the picture with your camera's autofocus.

--All of the coins in our catalog are positioned from top to bottom so for best results the coin picture you take also has to be positioned with the orientation from the top to the bottom. If the coin is slanted then it starts to affect the comparison process.

--It is recommended that each user get acquainted with the free version before upgrading. It may take a little practice and a couple of tries before you get the hang of taking a clear coin image. [email protected]

Tips:
--Holding the phone's camera a few extra inches away to allow light on the face of the coin will help improve your results
--Try to use your camera's auto focus for a clear image
--For best results coin designs should be clear and easy to spot
Known Issues:
There a few lower quality images in the catalog returning false positives so be sure to take clear pictures of both sides.
