I am guessing it is not because the OP did not indicate mod version. But, this is easy to use a cheat app with if you are rooted. If you are I would get it from the Play Store and cheat that version. That way you still get the updates the store sends out.

The problem is my phone isn't rooted. Can I root my phone and have my stock Google ROM without losing any data

I don't know your phone, but I would imagine so. I have an SGS 1 and SGS 3, all rooted with no data loss. Its normally quite a simple procedure.
