I've used your site for many years. I often find books for myself and my mother to read, after we've had so much loss in our lives in the past few years it's become a comfort.
For so many years, people have turned to books as a way to escape to other worlds while their world burns around them. Whether they can or can't do anything to put out the fire. My heart has been breaking for the people of Ukraine and even though I'm half a world away,

I'm with Ukraine. It breaks my heart to is this happening. Russians have been brainwashed coming into the country believing all the things they think is true are actually all false and contradictory from the rest of the world. The president managed to brainwash them so much that they are going full force into the country. A recent YouTube video from an ambassador to Ukraine read a text message to the UN meeting. The text message was a text exchange between a Russian soldier and his mum. The Russian soldier was describing how what he believed was otherwise. Not actually doing an exercise, but taking lives of civilians. It saddens me.

Unfortunately, most Americans will quickly mistake a Ukranian for a Russian as the accents sound so similar to the American ear. One thing I noticed, is that Ukrainians tend to be very patient and understanding about it, showing how dignified they tend to be. I had the distinct pleasure of training and working with a Ukranian for five years; getting to know him and his hardworking, close knit and religious family.

Sadly, too many people today don't know, or have forgotten, just how dangerous the Russian Bear is; something their closest neighbors have had to live with for a century. Make no mistake, Putin is a hard line Soviet with an image makeover. Nothing more.

Too many European countries have made the mistake of trying to do business with the new Soviet. While NATO was quickly and seriously in decline, Germany dismantled its own energy production capabilities to make themselves reliant on Russia for gas. As for the "sanctions", they will cut both ways since so many countries are so heavily invested in/with Russia. Which is why the sanctions won't be pushed too hard.

In many ways the EU empowered Putin, the U.S. is at a historic weak ebb militarily and leadership wise...and it's the good people of the border countries that will pay the price for our folly.

Our family is thinking of you and the horror being put upon your country. I have had Ukrainian friends, and friends from Hungary and Romania who fled Russian rule, and their stories are horrific. I hope there is a swift end to this and that Russia pays a heavy price for their actions. Godspeed.

I forged ties to the Ukrainian community in NYC and found them fiercely loyal, proud and devoted to their country, culture and heritage. May their united strength help them overcome the monstrous dictator threatening their peace and prosperity.

I just want to say that many Bulgarians with cars and buses are on their way to the Moldova-Romania border. They offer free transit to major Bulgarian cities! Look for the Bulgarian flag on the cars/busses. We have a lot of Bulgarians still trapped in Ukraine, there are busses for them, too. If you can contact the Bulgarian embassies in Ukraine, they'll help! Please be safe out there and know that Bulgaria is with you in these trying times! Слава Україні! Нека Бог да е с вас!
