THE SETUP
-------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Shibuya, a mishmash of attitudes and styles in the heart of Tokyo.
A boy named Neku wakes up in a crowded intersection, alone and unaware of how he got there. Then, he receives a weird text: “Clear this mission...or face erasure.” With that, Neku is thrust into a life-or-death game that sends him scrambling down streets paved with one riddle after another...
What is the Reaper’s Game? Why is Neku a Player, and what is he playing for? Will the Game really end if he survives all seven days? Another mystery is always around the corner.

THE PAYOFF
-------------------------------------------------
✔ Intuitive, addictive combat with a twist
Activate your combat abilities, or “psychs,” with simple touch commands like tapping, slashing, and dragging. Comfy with that? Control Neku and his Game partner on the same screen and take the combat up a notch. Like loot? Boost your item drops in battle with the revamped Fusion system.
✔ Deep replay value
Finish the main story to unlock a hilarious bonus chapter, more quests and items to find, new combat challenges, and secret reports that flesh out the story even more.
✔ Explore a living, breathing city
Neku’s sprawling world is based on the real-life Shibuya in Tokyo. Visit real locations and absorb some real Japanese culture through a hip, fantasy lens.
✔ Exciting arcade action
Use the pins you equip in the main story to play Tin Pin Slammer! Take on various in-game NPCs and be the first to knock your opponents’ pins off the table!
✔ Completely redrawn art
Enjoy the game in full HD on your device with art and animation that has been redrawn just for high pixel density
✔ The ultimate soundtrack: 60 songs
Composer Takeharu Ishimoto’s complete, sonically sublime soundtrack is included right in the game with high-quality audio and full vocals.
✔ Wirelessly trade Friend Cards
Exchange profiles with other players, and their avatars will appear in the streets of Shibuya! Not only that, you receive free items for every trade!

I keep getting "'Authentication Error. This game is not properly licensed. Please download the game from Google Play.", on my rooted Galaxy S4.

That's better than I get at least. Game switches to a landscape black screen with the icon in the top left for a few seconds, then just exits. Samsung Captivate Glide, 4.0.4, rooted with the modded Google Play 4.8.19. I tried disabling USB debugging, as I know some squareenix games have issues with it, as well as enabling Root Cloak in xposed, though I have yet to try disabling xposed entirely.

Its a square enix game guys. All square enix apps don't work when you got xposed installer on. You would have to disable it.

I think I figured it out. I was using the modded Google Play Store that I got from here at Mobilism via the installer, so I updated my Lucky Patcher and tried to patch Google Play with that. It downgraded me back to 4.8.19, but now TWEWY is loading perfectly.

This is the game I bought an S4 for.

Not all of them, I have at least a few older ones that work fine with xposed enabled (Chrono Trigger, FF1, FF2, FF3, and FF4AY, just offhand). I assume this is an issue with their newer games? Any idea if it affects legitimate purchases as well? I'm certainly not giving up xposed for a game or two.

(edit)
A quick google suggests that moving xposed and your addons to system apps will fix any problems with square enix games. Looks like I'll give that a try.

I tried that, bakageta. Didn't work. Squeenix never plays nicely with Xposed.

Working perfectly here, after moving xposed and all of my modules to system apps, rebooting, re-enabling them, and rebooting again. Here's a pic with xprivacy popping up in front of it. It asked me to sign into google play games, hitting cancel takes you to an initialization bar which took about a minute, then the title. Before moving everything to system apps, TWEWY would pop xprivacy asking for permission to load a library, and would crash to homescreen whether you allowed or denied it. I allowed it this time, and it continued with the typical permission requests, then ran as expected.

You may need to disable xprivacy and reboot before moving it to system, it didn't really want to move. I don't have any extravagant modules, just CrappaLinks, Greenify, KitKat Toast Backport, MinMinGuard, Pandora Patcher, RootCloak, XPrivacy and YouTube AdAway, but I imagine that's not that far off from what most people run.

Titanium Backup should work just fine to convert to system apps, and they should update as normal though xposed, though after updating, you'll need to use TB to "integrate the update into the system rom" as it calls it.

I'm getting this error:

Tried to clean RAM (~500MB free), internal memory, on SD I have plenty of free space. Nothing helps.
Any advices?

EDIT
Nevermind. Got to uninstall apps from my phone. Now it's working.

Any other insight on this one? I've tried all variations of Lucky patches but none seem to work and the app won't load at all when patched. I don't have xposed and I'm wondering if root cloak might end up being necessary. Anyone been able to use this on a phone with root and without xposed?

is there any way to play this while Xposed is active and NOT converting the modules to system app? I had tons of xposed modules installed that I regularly back up using Titanium and converting them to a system app will be time consuming. You also have to backup the modules one by one in Titanium once they are converted to a system app because obviously nobody wants to batch backup+restore all the system apps

You can still easily batch backup once you convert to system apps, just click the batch then uncheck all and pick your xposed modules. Restoring is even easier, if you don't have any other system app backups you can just restore everything you have. Updating isn't particularly hard either, just update through xposed, load TB, integrate updates into rom (I believe there's a batch for this even), and then reboot. Short of disabling xposed or moving them all to system, I've not found a way to get games like this working. Personally, I manually back up everything I want once, then set a weekly schedule to redo all my existing backups, followed by backing up new apps. That keeps me backed up without too much work.

lunisneko: Have you tried using the patched play store from LP, instead of patching the app directly? LP gave me inconsistent results on some games, at least one of them from squareenix, while the patched play store has been much more consistent.
