Update: Game runs if you turn off wifi/cellular data. This must be done every time you play it. If you forget it, you will get the license error and need to uninstall and reinstall, losing your progress.

Alternatively you can download a firewall app and block the games connection and you don't need to be disconnected from Internet.

yeah license error ... blocking internet is too much of a hassle.
