Can confirm it doesn't work. It tries to connect to Google Play and from what I read in the review section of the app in Play Store it seems like developer now requires active internet connection to play the game.

Its developer says: "An upcoming update to the Google Play Store required changes to Threes and a couple of bugs crept in. One of these bugs is forcing some users into the App Store. I'm sorry this has affected you! We're working to fix this issue ASAP"
