CABviaActiveSync v1.4
Requirements: Windows mobile PPC (ARM/XSCALE)
Overview: CABviaActiveSync is a utility which turns any installation of a CAB file much quicker.
Image

It appears as a new entry in the context menu of your desktop explorer. When you click this option, CABviaActiveSync executes several tasks :
- it copies the CAB file to your ActiveSync directory,
- it begins the install launching CEAPPMGR.EXE

It could not be easier to use, and thanks to this utility, I got rid of copying CABs to Pocket PC, clicking in the file explorer, copying the CAB file to a secure place if I need reinstalling, etc. Even if it's not that difficult, it's a waste of time.
For me it's a must have if you install many apps, just like I do to keep this site up to date.

Even if this is a Pc application, the compatibility with WM5 is a different thing.
It can works only with AS v3.8 , and in this case is compatible with WM2003 (or previous) only.
It can be compatible with AS 4.0 or newest (and this is the case), so it means compatibility with WM5 too.

It does not work for me, when I right click on a .cab file to choose install on the PocketPC nothing appends then (of course I had my PocketPC plugged to the PC at that moment).
I have WM5 and ActiveSync 4.2.

Try to do softreset to your device before connect it to Pc via ActiveSync, or after the CAB file has been transferred.

Is this the freeware one that gives the pop-up thingie saying members don't have this pop-up? I have it installed (freeware one) and it's great. Of course, could do without that pop-up.

Does this application works for you ?
It does not work for me. I have the Cab install line in the context menu of .cab files, but after clicking on it, I have an error message because it is apparently looking for something that it can not find.
I have Windows XP, and ActiveSync v4.2. Worth mentionning that I have installed ActiveSync not in the default folder. For people having installed ActiveSync not in the default installation folder, does Cabviaactivesync work for you ?
