I've got a question:
Is there any app out there that is doing the exact same thing, but also can be copied to ROM? I need it to install automatically after a hard reset with the saved configuration of my SIM and the number it shall alarm via SMS if that SIM has been changed.
I hope you're able to understand my English!

You can do this copy easily copying the CAB file of this applcation directly to your Extended_ROM (of course, depending on your device).
In this way, after Hard Reset, it will be still there, and, using simply File Explorer you can tap on it to install.
But, I repeat, to do this is dependng on your ppc phone edition model, cos the Extended_Rom is not availlable on all.

EDIT: sorry ... havent noted your "install automatically" request. In this case the things are a little bit more hard, cos you need to put the CAB file name in the Install.ini file of your Extended_ROM.
In fact, this install file is executed every time after any Hard Reset automatically by the system, and it install (normally) the Brand customization to your device.
Modifyng this install file you will have the possibility to auto install your CAB file.
But, any way, also this method is not totally safe, cos if someone executes a soft reset immediatly after the first (and always required) post Hard Reset process the Extended_ROM contents will not be installed (and your CAB file as well).
The most safe way to ensure auto-installation of your CAB is to cook a special ROM that auto-install this CAB file during the first post Hard Reset process (uninterruptable process).
But, also in this case if someone decide to flash your ppc (and to rewrite in this way all ROM and Extended_ROM contents) before to put in the new SIM card, your device will be lost !!!!

Probably you need to disable the Auto-Run option before uninstalling it.

It's not shown as an installed program. So am I right that I just need to delete the LockAppen.exe and the config files?

Thanks

Strange ... it is not listed in installed programs .... uhmmmm ... but we are speaking of a CAB file at all.
Maybe, it is not listed for security reason, to avoid that the thief uninstall it before new SIM introduction.

But if this is the reason, it will be not so easy to uninstall it. Probably in this case it will not enough to delete the files you indicated.

For instance, in the past I installed remotePROTECT (similar application that you can find on this Forum) on my HTC Alpine, and to uninstall it an HARD RESET was required (no other way).

I must admit that I'm not at ease about this. It could be somehow hidden from the thief, but there must be a mechanism for the owner to activate/deactivate/or uninstall it. That would look more like a legitimate program.

The way this program is hidden and there's no instruction as to how to uninstall it make me think of similar activities of keyloggers/spyware in PCs.

cencio, first thanx for your reply!
Ok, copying in ROM and to change the .ini is the way I looked for. I know it's not 100% save, but it will be enough for a hardreset by using the ROM that's already on the ppc.
There's one thing I'm not sure how to realize. The way you described is to install the prog automatically after a reset. But my default options (such as telephonnumber that should get the sms with the new SIM ID) aren't installed by copying the .cab in the ROM are they?
What I want to say is the following:
If the thief isn't that stupid and decides to hardreset the ppc before putting his own SIM in it, the prog will be installed with default options. My SIM-ID isn't saved anymore either the number..

Hope you understand what I'm trying to tell/ask !!
Thanx in advance, tom.
